Bevi is on a mission to transform how beverages are delivered and consumed. Our connected beverage platform eliminates the need for single-use bottles and cans, making it easy, fun, and sustainable to stay hydrated. As the category leader in IoT-enabled beverage technology, we're building a future where Bevi machines are everywhere people live, work, and connect. We've raised over $160M in venture capital, serve thousands of customers across the US, Canada, UK and Ireland, and we've been rapidly growing year over year, saving over 1 billion bottles from waste. In addition to driving hypergrowth with our current product line, Bevi is heavily investing in new product development.

Bevi is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Bevi’s backend platform. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering software solutions that facilitate the stable operation of Bevi’s fleet of smart water machines and modernize Bevi's backend systems at the pace of a high-growth startup for scale. You will collaborate closely with other software engineers on system design and implementation. This role invites seasoned engineers to exercise their deep expertise by driving critical feature development and providing mentorship to junior teammates.

We are a small and fun software team in a fast-growing hardware startup. Our customers love our product and you will play a crucial role in making them even happier. If you love thinking through new ideas and interactions, how to execute them in an innovative way, and have a deep respect for user experience, come join our team!

The ability to be in the office 2+ days per week in our Boston (Charlestown) headquarters is strongly preferred for this position.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve service and cloud system performance with logs and metrics.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of Bevi’s web and machine user interfaces by developing and maintaining well-designed and documented APIs.
  • Develop and expand a suite of services that process telemetry events/datapoints from Bevi machines and provide critical data to our R&D, support technicians, and fleet managers.
  • Work efficiently to deliver consistent results as part of an agile software development team, ensuring your code is clean, reliable, and easy to maintain.
  • Participate in and guide architectural discussions, technical design direction, and app optimization strategies with an eye on metric-driven results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and hardware teams, to define, design, and ship new features as well as contribute significantly to software development planning.
  • Review code and regularly share input and advice to peers to ensure high code quality and maintain best practices across the team. Champion unit/integration testing and test-driven development practices.
  • Mentor other software engineers in architectural design decisions, technical direction, and application creation strategies.
  • Own the relationship and interaction with cloud providers, software vendors, or other third-party services integrated with Bevi’s backend infrastructure to support consistent system performance and scalability.
  • Help triage, identify, and resolve complex issues and bugs that surface in Bevi’s backend services and UIs for reliable system operation on Bevi machines and to reduce impact to customers.
  • Actively participate in Agile/Scrum development processes, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
