We are seeking an Application Engineer 3 (Implementation Consultant) to join our Professional Services team in Japan. This role is ideal for a technically curious and customer-focused professional who enjoys solving problems, collaborating with customers, and helping organizations successfully adopt security solutions.
About the Role
~1 min readAs an Application Engineer 3, you will work alongside customers and senior consultants to implement and optimize Black Duck solutions within their development environments. You will contribute to project delivery, support technical integrations, and help customers achieve their security and compliance objectives.
This role provides an excellent opportunity to deepen your expertise in application security, DevSecOps, and customer-facing consulting while working with leading organizations across Japan.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Assist in the deployment and configuration of Black Duck solutions in customer environments
- Support implementation projects under the guidance of senior consultants and project leads
- Help customers integrate Black Duck products into their SDLC and DevOps workflows
- Gather and document customer requirements
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide implementation support
- Conduct product demonstrations, workshops, and knowledge-transfer sessions
- Build strong relationships with customer stakeholders
- Provide best practices and recommendations to improve adoption and operational efficiency
- Support customers during onboarding and post-implementation activities
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Product teams to ensure customer success
- Contribute technical feedback and implementation insights to internal teams
- Maintain accurate project documentation and status updates
Requirements
~1 min read- 2+ years of experience in software engineering, implementation consulting, technical support, or related technical roles
- Understanding of software development methodologies and application lifecycle management
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, or C/C++
- Familiarity with scripting technologies such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Basic understanding of application security concepts and secure development practices
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and development workflows
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
- Ability to work effectively in a customer-facing environment
- Experience implementing enterprise software solutions
- Familiarity with DevOps platforms and source control systems such as Git
- Exposure to application security testing, vulnerability management, or software quality tools
- Experience working with SaaS-based applications and cloud technologies
- Consulting, professional services, or technical support experience
- Security-related training or certifications are a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field
- Equivalent practical experience will also be considered
- Ability to travel up to approximately 25%
- Experience working with geographically distributed teams is preferred
