Fuel and lube systems. Structural hardware. Component testing. Assembly processes built from scratch. At Boom, you'll own some of the hardest mechanical engineering challenges and real hardware —  on day one of your career.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Own parts of mechanical subsystems — fuel, lube, cooling, and other balance-of-plant systems — from initial concept through analysis, drawing release, and integration into the full engine system.
  • Design components and assemblies that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and testability, making real engineering tradeoffs on hardware that actually gets built.
  • Plan and support assembly processes, working closely with manufacturing engineers on the floor to make sure your designs can be built, assembled, and serviced.
  • Design and run component and system-level tests — instrument the hardware, collect data, interpret results, and use what you learn to make better engineering decisions faster.
  • Collaborate across propulsion, electrical, and manufacturing teams to make sure your subsystems integrate cleanly with the rest of the engine.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent hands-on hardware experience.
  • At least one internship or co-op where you designed, analyzed, or built real-world mechanical systems.
  • Hands-on CAD and analysis experience – proficiency with standard 3D CAD modeling (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, CATIA) and structural/thermal FEA tools.
  • A rock-solid grasp of core mechanical engineering fundamentals – statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, machine design, and fluid mechanics/thermodynamics.
  • A track record of finishing hard things, inside school and outside of it.

Internships require 100% onsite at Boom's headquarters located at 6803 S Tucson Way, Centennial, CO 80112.
