Residential Showroom Sales Consultant (In-Office)

The Residential Showroom Sales Consultant plays a vital role in guiding clients through the tile and stone selection and installation process. This position bridges sales, operations, billing, and project execution, ensuring residential projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The consultant will collaborate closely with the fabrication shop, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver a seamless, end-to-end client experience from initial design consultation to final installation.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Client Engagement
- Assist residential clients with selecting tile and stone materials based on design preferences, technical specifications, and budget.
- Prepare accurate quotes, generate sales orders, and manage all required client documentation.
- Maintain proactive communication and follow-up throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with homeowners, designers, and contractors.
Product Knowledge & Design Guidance
- Provide expert recommendations on material suitability, finishes, and installation methods.
- Educate clients on maintenance, durability, and care for various tile and stone products.
- Interpret job site layouts, floor plans, and design requirements for accurate material coordination.
Billing and Accounts Receivable
- Collaboration with Cost Accounting: Meet weekly with cost accountants to review change orders and ensure timely invoicing for completed work phases.
- Accounts Receivable Tracking: Partner with accounting to monitor outstanding receivables, follow up on overdue payments, and resolve billing discrepancies to support company cash flow.
Project & Fabrication Coordination
- Work closely with the fabrication shop to ensure accurate and timely order processing for custom fabrication.
- Maintain clear communication with subcontractors to support project scheduling, execution, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards and established deadlines.
Showroom & Team Collaboration
- Partner with marketing and operations teams to maintain an organized, inviting, and on-brand showroom environment.
- Support visual merchandising and sample management.
- Maintain a clean and organized showroom, ensuring all inventory and samples are clearly labeled, tracked, and updated when sold or allocated to projects.
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3+ years of residential showroom sales experience (tile, stone, or home design industry preferred).
- Strong knowledge of tile and stone materials, finishes, and installation techniques.
- Experience with SAGE 100 for billing, order entry, and inventory coordination.
- Familiarity with accounting workflows, billing cycles, and A/R tracking.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word); CRM experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, client service, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans, blueprints, and construction documents.
- Spanish-speaking ability is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This is primarily an office-based position. Responsibilities may require:
- Long periods of computer work, including sitting and frequent use of fingers, hands, and arms.
- Occasional bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to use close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, with depth perception and focus adjustment.
- Moderate noise levels are typical of an office environment.
- A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance may be required for occasional work-related travel.
- May require extended hours during peak seasons or project deadlines.
Conditions of Employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National and at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a drug screening and background check prior to employment.
- This is a full-time, in-person position in a showroom sales environment.
- Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, with required on-site attendance.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed based on business and customer demand.
- Strong attendance and punctuality are required to ensure consistent customer service coverage.
