About the Role

Casa Esperanza Inc. is seeking an On-Call Kitchen Assistant to cover holidays, vacations and unexpected call outs. The Kitchen Assistant role is a per diem position. Typical hours are 6am-2pm depending on program needs. Hours are not guaranteed. The Kitchen Assistant plans and prepares three healthy meals per day for approximately 75 individuals. They also ensures that a variety of healthy snacks are available to residents throughout the day. It requires weekly availability from Sunday through Saturday including holidays from 6am to 2pm.

Responsibilities

  • →Skill in cooking and preparing a variety of foods.
  • →Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
  • →Ability to organize and coordinate the purchase of food, supplies and equipment needed to prepare 3 meals per day and make healthy snacks available for up to 75 individuals.
  • →Ability to safely use all kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • →Ability to accept receipt of goods and supplies.
  • →Ability to gather data, compile information, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records.
  • →Ability to manage others in a kitchen environment, ensuring safety and quality meal preparation.

Education/Training required:

  • →At least 2 years of food preparation and kitchen management experience, preparing meals for 75+ guests per meal.
  • →SERV Safe certified or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • →Experience preparing Latin American cuisine is required.
  • →Minimum high school diploma or GED required
  • →CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
  • →Participates in regular training with regard to nutrition and healthy meal preparation

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
