Position Summary
Reporting to the Provincial Sales Manager, the Sales Representative – On-Premise is responsible for driving growth of the Charton Hobbs portfolio within the on-premise market, primarily across licensed establishments in Greater Montréal.
In a highly relationship-driven, field-based environment, the successful candidate develops strategic partnerships with key accounts in the premium restaurant and hospitality sector. The role actively represents the prestige portfolio and contributes directly to sales growth, including brand programs, wine list placements, and the development of private import opportunities within on-premise accounts.
Success in this role requires strong territory ownership, deep industry knowledge, and a proven ability to influence, educate, and deliver commercial results in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Sales Representative is responsible for driving territory performance through strong relationships with key decision-makers, including owners, sommeliers, bar managers, and executive chefs.
They will maximize the presence of the prestige portfolio across wine lists, cocktail menus, and by-the-glass programs, while supporting seasonal activations, supplier initiatives, and private import programs.
Responsibilities include:
- Execution of brand and supplier programs, including private import initiatives and their deployment within on-premise accounts
- Development, growth, and retention of strategic accounts, as well as acquisition of new business
- Delivery of product presentations and training on the prestige portfolio to front-of-house teams
- Collaboration with brand ambassadors and supplier partners during field activations
- Active participation in industry events, tastings, supplier dinners, and trade activities, including evenings and weekends
- Regular travel across Québec as required by the territory
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance will be measured against, but not limited to:
- Achievement of sales, volume, and distribution targets across the territory
- Execution of prestige portfolio priorities: wine list placements, by-the-glass programs, and signature cocktails
- Development and performance of private import initiatives
- Execution of supplier programs and brand activations
- Growth and retention of key accounts
- Territory management discipline and visit planning effectiveness
- Quality and impact of prestige portfolio training delivered
- Accuracy and consistency of CRM reporting and activity tracking
- Responsible management of budgets and expenses
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records (placements, contacts, activities)
- Manage budgets and expenses in accordance with company policy
Qualifications
Experience & Education
- Post-secondary education in sales, marketing, business, or related field and/or minimum 2 years’ experience in wine & spirits sales or hospitality account management
- Proven experience managing on-premise accounts
- Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, and cocktail culture
- Experience in menu placements, field training, and program execution (including private import) considered an asset
Skills
- Strong ability to build long-term commercial relationships
- Excellent sales, communication, and negotiation skills
- Highly organized and self-directed
- Strong field orientation with a results-driven mindset
Industry Knowledge
- Solid understanding of the Québec beverage alcohol market and applicable regulations
- WSET or equivalent certification considered an asset
Compensation
- Competitive base salary plus incentive bonus, car allowance, and benefits package commensurate with experience.
- Business expenses covered per company policy.
