About the Role

The Sales Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and coaching a team of sales professionals while driving revenue growth, customer retention, and sales execution within an assigned region, territory, or customer segment. This role directly manages Sales Representatives and Account Managers, ensuring achievement of sales objectives through effective leadership, performance management, talent development, and customer engagement.

In addition to people leadership responsibilities, the Sales Manager manages a portfolio of strategic customer accounts and partners closely with Sales Directors and cross-functional stakeholders to execute commercial strategies, optimize account coverage, improve sales effectiveness, and drive adoption of sales processes, tools, and best practices. The Sales Manager serves as a key leader in building organizational capability, strengthening sales execution, and delivering sustainable business results.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Sales Representatives and Account Managers to achieve revenue, retention, activity, and customer satisfaction objectives.
  • Establish performance expectations, provide ongoing coaching and feedback, and hold team members accountable for achievement of business goals and key performance indicators.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, field observations, joint sales calls, and performance reviews to improve individual and team effectiveness.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of sales talent in partnership with Human Resources and Commercial Learning & Development.
  • Identify high-potential talent and create development plans to support succession planning and career growth opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of strategic customer accounts, maintaining accountability for revenue growth, retention, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop, execute, and review account plans for assigned accounts while coaching team members on effective account planning and customer engagement strategies.
  • Provide customer coverage and business continuity support during territory vacancies, employee leave, or other staffing transitions.
  • Partner with sales leadership and team members to identify opportunities to acquire new customers, expand existing relationships, and improve retention.
  • Support the development and execution of customer-specific growth strategies utilizing available programs, tools, insights, and resources.
  • Partner with sales leadership to execute business plans, sales initiatives, and performance improvement strategies.
  • Participate in monthly business reviews, sales performance discussions, forecasting activities, and annual talent assessment processes.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, pipeline activity, customer trends, and business metrics to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Assist in optimizing account assignments, territory structures, and customer coverage models to maximize sales effectiveness and growth.
  • Partner with Inside Sales, Strategic Accounts, and other commercial teams to ensure coordinated customer coverage and execution.
  • Champion adoption of the company's sales methodology and reinforce application of critical selling skills across the sales organization.
  • Partner with Commercial Learning & Development to onboard new sales team members and support ongoing sales capability development.
  • Ensure completion of required learning programs and reinforce training content through coaching and field engagement.
  • Serve as the sales team's subject matter expert and power user for commercial technology platforms including Salesforce CRM, Power BI, ApparelSoft, and other sales enablement tools.
  • Support team members in effectively utilizing technology, reporting, analytics, and customer insights to improve business performance.
  • Collaborate with Commercial Learning & Development, Sales Enablement, Commercial Operations, Commercial Strategy, Commercial IT, Marketing, Merchandising, Revenue Growth Management (RGM), and Operations to support business objectives.
  • Provide customer, market, and competitive insights that inform commercial decision-making and business strategy.
  • Support implementation of commercial initiatives designed to improve customer experience, sales effectiveness, and business performance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible sales, account management, or sales leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, developing, and managing sales professionals.
  • Strong understanding of consultative selling, account planning, pipeline management, and customer relationship management principles.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, reporting platforms, sales analytics tools, and related technologies.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate commercial strategy into measurable business results.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, planning, coaching, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly to support customers and field-based employee development.

Nice to Have

  • Experience within the promotional products, apparel, wholesale distribution, or related industries.
  • Knowledge of the Company's products, value proposition, customer base, sales processes, and competitive landscape.
  • Advanced proficiency with Salesforce CRM, Power BI, ApparelSoft, or similar commercial sales platforms.
  • Experience leading geographically dispersed sales teams and managing complex customer relationships.
