Assistant General Manager - The Galley

Cleveland Metroparks is seeking an Assistant General Manager at The Galley, located within the Sailing Center at the Patrick S. Parker Community Sailing Center. Working closely with the General Manager, this position serves as a key operational leader responsible for supporting daily restaurant operations, staff performance and guest satisfaction.

The Assistant General Manager plays an active role on the restaurant floor, providing leadership and support to staff while helping ensure efficient service and positive dining experience. The ideal candidate is an experienced restaurant professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working as part of a team, and can confidently oversee operations in the General Manager's absence.

• →Hire, supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate restaurant staff; provide coaching and feedback to support employee development and ensure alignment with operational standards.
• →Oversee daily restaurant operations and maintain a visible presence on the floor to support staff, monitor service quality, and ensure a positive guest experience.
• →Address guest concerns, answer questions, and work collaboratively with staff to maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and hospitality.
• →Assist with planning and executing special events and private functions, including contracts, staffing, setup, and event coordination.
• →Develop staff schedules, assign work areas, and monitor labor needs to support efficient operations and service levels.
• →Oversee financial aspects of the restaurants daily deposits; maintains safe balances; manages petty cash; handles pro-card receipts and statements; handles invoices; manages relationships with vendors.
• →Manage inventory and purchasing activities, including ordering food, beverages, linens, and supplies, conducting inventories, and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
• →Assists General Manager by creating revenue reports, and any other tasks as needed.

Education and Experience: Two to five years of restaurant leadership experience, including experience as a Floor Manager, Assistant General Manager, or similar supervisory role preferred. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position will be considered.

Qualifications:

• →Must possess a valid driver's license.
• →Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, customer service, staffing, and daily front-of-house functions.
• →Experience with restaurant POS systems required; Toast experience preferred.
• →Proven leadership abilities, including staff supervision, coaching, scheduling, problem solving, and decision making.
• →Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff, guests, vendors, and stakeholders.
• →Ability to remain organized and adapt to the demands of a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• →Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• →Professional maturity, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential information.
• →Ability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively support operations in the General Manager's absence.
• →Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.

Work Days: Work schedule is highly variable, and candidates must be able to work evenings and weekends as operational needs require
