About Discovery Garden

Discovery Garden helps libraries, museums, galleries, and archives preserve, manage, and share the digital collections that matter most. From Babe Ruth’s telegrams at the Baseball Hall of Fame to historic photography collections at the San Francisco Public Library, our work powers access to some of the world’s most valuable cultural and academic content. Founded in 2010 we deliver flexible, future-ready digital repository and preservation solutions trusted by institutions around the world.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Business Development Executive to join the growing team at Discovery Garden. In this role, you’ll work closely with our Chief Revenue Officer to help drive growth by building relationships, generating qualified opportunities, and supporting outreach across the higher education and GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives, and museums) sectors.

You’ll play a hands-on role in prospecting and client engagement through phone outreach, email campaigns, social media, webinars, and account management activities. Your primary focus will be identifying organizations that could benefit from modern digital repository and preservation solutions, then helping guide them toward meaningful conversations and product demonstrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research prospective institutions to understand their digital collection, repository, and preservation challenges.
  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities through personalized outreach, including phone, email, LinkedIn, webinars, and industry networking.
  • Schedule and lead discovery meetings and product demonstrations with institutional stakeholders.
  • Lead the sales process from initial outreach through proposal and closing stages.
  • Collaborate with technical and leadership teams to align messaging, campaigns, and customer needs.
  • Maintain accurate activity tracking and pipeline management within CRM systems (Hubspot).
  • Participate in ongoing sales training, product learning, and industry education.
  • Conduct account check-ins and support customer relationship management initiatives.
  • Share market feedback and customer insights to support future product positioning and marketing efforts.

Ideal Candidate

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Strong preference for candidates based in Prince Edward Island, Canada.
  • Experience in sales, business development, customer service, or client-facing roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships remotely.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and goal-oriented with a proactive mindset.
  • Comfortable learning new technologies, systems, and industry concepts.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms is considered an asset.
  • Interest in technology, digital preservation, higher education, libraries, museums, or cultural heritage sectors is a plus.

Why Join Discovery Garden?

  • Join a small, high-performing team where your contributions are visible and valued.
  • Work at the leading edge of digital collections and technology innovation.
  • Support meaningful missions across education, culture, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Base salary + performance bonus
  • Ongoing mentorship and growth opportunities in sales, strategy, and client engagement.

Application Process

To apply, please submit your resume. Tell us why you’re interested in this role and what makes you a strong fit. If you’ve had success in outreach, lead generation, or sales - even in another sector - be sure to include that too.

We welcome candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to building an inclusive workplace.
