Purpose of the Role The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily plant operations and ensuring that targets, budgets, and internal procedures are effectively implemented across all departments, including Production, Sales, Finance, Logistics, and HR/Administration. The role serves as a cross-functional point of coordination, control, and escalation, with particular focus on operational efficiency and the commercial and financial performance of the Sales function. Key Responsibilities Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly operational KPIs across departments and flag deviations from plan. Ensure company procedures and internal controls are properly implemented and consistently followed. Closely follow up on Sales performance, including client accounts, outstanding balances, collections, and adherence to credit terms. Review client statements and aging reports and escalate overdue or at-risk accounts. Support budgeting, cost control, and procurement oversight. Review and challenge departmental reports, including Production, Sales, and Finance, before submission to the General Manager. Coordinate between departments to resolve operational bottlenecks related to raw materials, production, dispatch, collections, and other critical activities. Track the implementation of General Manager and Head Office decisions and follow up on outstanding action items. Prepare periodic performance summaries, KPI reports, and variance analyses for senior management. Support HR matters, including staffing, discipline, and performance reviews. Stand in for the General Manager on operational matters when required. Identify process gaps and operational inefficiencies and recommend corrective actions. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field. 5–8 years of relevant experience, ideally in industrial or manufacturing operations. Previous exposure to Africa is highly desirable. Strong analytical skills and comfortable working with numbers, KPIs, financial reports, and operational data. Strong coordination and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments. Highly organized, detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to work independently. Proactive and ambitious, with a strong sense of ownership and a desire for long-term growth. Takes initiative, asks questions, and is not afraid to challenge process gaps or established practices. Comfortable reviewing and challenging departmental performance while maintaining a collaborative approach. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Fluent in Arabic and English; French is a plus. Willing to relocate to Ghana and work from the plant site.
