What You Will Do:

• Under the direction of the nutritional services leader, a cook performs a variety of food service functions.  Requirements of this position include: Preparing quality meals for patients, employees, and visitors according to standards. Reviewing menus and diet orders to determine types and quantities of food to be ordered and prepared daily. Consults with the registered dietitian when it is necessary to modify diet preparation. Responsible for maintaining sanitation and cleanliness of food preparation area and equipment. All tasks are performed in strict accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

• Responsible for the quality preparation of food in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

• Food will be prepared in a manner that prevents food born illness.

• Food will be store at the appropriate temperature and by methods designed to prevent contamination.

• Record kitchen food temperatures and equipment temperatures.

• Equipment and tools will be properly used, cleaned, sanitized and kept in good repair.

• Follows production sheets and recipes as directed.

• Determine quantity of food to be prepared so that food is ready to be served at a specific time.

• Food will be served as soon as possible after is has been prepared.

• Ensures patient safety by accurately reading assigned diets, interpreting assigned diets, and preventing allergic reactions.

• Pulls food as needed food from refrigerator, freezer or other storage area.

• Responsible for daily operations of the department and ordering stock in the absence of a leader.

   

What You Will Need:

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience cooking in a restaurant or institutional environment preferred.
• Related prior work experience with some hospital, institution, or restaurant cooking preferred.
• Ability to read and write small letters and numbers.
• Must be flexible and willing to accept different assignments according to the needs of the department.

• Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.

• Required to achieve all departmental goals and competencies while actively contributing to the department’s ongoing strategic initiatives.
• Complete all required organizational and departmental requirements-including, but not limited to, fit testing, vaccinations, health pillars, and CareLearning, within the allotted timeframe.
• Successful completion of a 90 day probationary period.
