PSAV Program Manager

The position organizes, schedules, coordinates and monitors and manages a Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training approved Firefighter Recruit Training Program and Facility to ensure effective operations and activities in compliance with state and federal NFPA standards and guidelines. In addition, provides instruction for Fire I and II certification programs, prepares required reports, and maintains records.

• Manages and oversees the Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training approved Firefighter I and II certification program activities to ensure compliance with various public, private, and governmental regulatory agencies.
• Assesses training needs of outside agencies in the region.
• Serves as liaison to outside agencies in the region.
• Develops and implements training programs for outside agencies.
• Identifies, procures, and maintains adequate facilities, supplies and equipment needed for training.
• Recruits and selects qualified instructors.
• Prepares reports, conducts presentations, and maintains records.

The position requires at least a bachelor’s degree and at least six years of prior-related work experience as a regular member of an organized fire department. The position requires at least a High School diploma or GED equivalent if substituting experience for education.

Must hold Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training Certified Firefighter, Certified Instructor I, II or III and Live Fire Training Instructor I certifications to conduct training activities for Florida’s fire service professionals. Must have ability to perform the tasks associated with the training certification programs.

• Designs and develops handout materials to more effectively communicate criteria for drill formations, uniform and firearm selection etc.

• Solicits from employing agencies in HCC’s service area for courses needed for program certification.

• Obtains guidance from appropriate state and federal agencies to assure proper programs/courses are delivered to students.

• Provide daily ongoing instructor and program support with provision of handouts, textbook, supplies, facility access.

• Review all curriculum used for instructions blocks to ensure up-to-date revision and edit/revise and prep all examinations accordingly.

• Monitor all phases of ongoing programs to ensure all Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training standards and guidelines are met/adhered to.

• Interview, evaluates, enlist and schedule large groups of certified instructions for various blocks of instruction and reserve facilities.

• Schedule ongoing 492 Hour Florida Fire I and II certification program attendance records and examination scoring for block completion confirmation. Preparing and submitting reports on same.
