About the Role

~1 min read

IDC is extending its enterprise AI platform into China, on China-approved infrastructure and in step with a fast-moving regulatory environment. This is a market entry and deployment initiative, built jointly with a China-based leadership team, an implementation partner, and program leadership in the United States. The Program Manager, China is IDC's on-the-ground owner in Beijing, running the delivery engine end to end and making sure nothing that matters is lost in translation between the China team and program leadership abroad.

Responsibilities

  • → Own end-to-end delivery of the phased program plan, from initial cloud provisioning and test environment stand-up through model evaluation, architecture build-out, and production deployment, tracked against agreed milestone and go-live targets.
  • →Manage required regulatory filings end to end, including engaging a qualified filing agent at kickoff and keeping the multi-week process moving without it becoming a blocker to later milestones.
  • →Own the data security and privacy compliance review for the China deployment, and document the certification level required against current posture.
  • →Provision and configure China cloud infrastructure, including network isolation, encryption with keys held outside China, and government disclosure notification clauses in every cloud contract.
  • →Run parallel evaluation of China-approved language models against a pass or fail quality threshold defined jointly with the United States-based technical product owner.
  • →Own day-to-day program management for the China workstream, including a current deliverables log, program-level risk and issue tracking, and prompt escalation of high-rated risks to the China country lead and United States program representative.
  • →Chair local steering committee touchpoints and prepare status materials, and coordinate with IDC's legal team and outside counsel on regulatory review and export control review.
  • Required degree or certifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • Required years of relevant work experience: Significant experience in technology implementation, including several years leading cross-border China deployments.
  • Essential technical skills: Bilingual in Mandarin and English; proficiency with project management platforms (Monday, Asana, Smartsheet, Jira); working fluency with AI-enabled productivity tools; strong command of Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook); proficiency with China-native collaboration platforms (WeCom, Feishu, DingTalk); hands-on experience with China regulatory filings, China data security classification standards, and China-based cloud infrastructure including network isolation, segmentation, and encryption key management; prior budget responsibility on a comparable engagement.
  • Personal attributes: Structured and disciplined in managing complexity across multiple workstreams; operates with a bias toward decision-forcing and escalation clarity; communicates with precision for executive audiences; comfortable with ambiguity; change management orientation; collaborative and low-ego in a cross-functional environment.
  • Percentage of travel required: Occasional travel abroad for program governance meetings, phase gate reviews, and key milestones.
  • Hybrid, based in Beijing, China (on-site/hybrid within the People's Republic of China)
