District Sales Manager

The District Sales Manager will drive lubricant sales and business development across the New England and New York markets, combining new customer acquisition with strategic management of existing distributor relationships. This home-based role is ideal for a commercially driven professional who enjoys building partnerships, negotiating opportunities, and delivering profitable growth. You will work closely with distributor owners, sales representatives, and internal teams to strengthen account performance and develop tailored solutions. Through strategic account planning, customer engagement, and data-driven sales management, you will help expand market presence and achieve ambitious sales objectives. The position involves significant field engagement, with approximately 70–80% travel throughout the designated territory. Candidates must reside within the assigned region and be comfortable managing a dynamic, customer-facing sales portfolio.
- Manage customer and distributor relationships, support distributor sales representatives through training and joint sales calls, and collaborate with distributor leadership to develop performance improvement and business plans.
- Build productive, professional relationships with key contacts within assigned accounts, including field operations, maintenance teams, area supervisors, and senior management.
- Identify prospective large distributors, develop targeted account plans, and pursue new business opportunities to expand lubricant sales.
- Achieve assigned targets for profitable sales margins, sales volume, and strategic account objectives.
- Lead joint strategic account planning with customers and distributors, establishing shared performance objectives, financial targets, and key milestones.
- Proactively assess distributor needs and coordinate solution development with Marketing and other internal teams, including field support and sales service resources.
- Use Salesforce CRM to manage distributor relationships, maintain customer records, document sales calls, track business development opportunities, and support head-office account management.
- Identify, develop, and negotiate innovative business opportunities in collaboration with field support teams.
- Resolve high-priority customer concerns and escalated issues while maintaining strong relationships and supporting business continuity.
- Collaborate with the Sales Manager on pricing strategies and margin management to support profitable growth.
- Collect and submit required account documentation, including credit applications and tax exemption certificates, when establishing new customer accounts.
- Apply the account-based sales process consistently and complete additional responsibilities assigned by the supervisor as business needs evolve.
Requirements

- A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a relevant field is preferred. A combination of post-secondary education and relevant professional experience may also be considered.
- Strong sales and business development capabilities, with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, build customer relationships, and deliver measurable results.
- Proven experience selling through distributor or associate networks and working effectively with stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, negotiation, and account-management skills, including experience developing and executing strategic client account plans using a solution-selling approach.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to measure and document sales performance.
- Confidence in preparing and delivering presentations, communicating professionally, and maintaining accurate customer records.
- Computer literacy and experience using CRM platforms; familiarity with Salesforce is relevant to the role.
- Mechanical aptitude or an interest in mechanical systems is an advantage.
- Must reside within the designated New England and New York sales territory and hold a valid driver's license.
- Willingness to work from home while traveling approximately 70–80% of the time.
- Ability to meet the role's physical and fieldwork requirements, which may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing up to three feet, working in confined spaces, and lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 25 pounds. The role also requires driving assigned vehicles and performing tasks involving visual inspections and precise hand movements.
