This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced DevOps leader to shape the strategy, infrastructure, and operational practices behind a growing cloud-based technology platform. You will lead and develop a technical team while remaining hands-on with cloud architecture, automation, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure management. The role combines strategic planning with practical engineering to improve system reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency. You will establish robust processes for releases, incident response, disaster recovery, and observability while modernizing legacy infrastructure. Working closely with software development, data engineering, AI, and platform teams, you will help accelerate delivery without compromising quality or operational resilience. This remote leadership opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives on building accountable teams, simplifying complex systems, and driving continuous improvement.
Own the DevOps roadmap, priorities, and delivery commitments across all environments, establishing clear accountability for infrastructure strategy and operational performance.
Lead, mentor, and develop the DevOps team, overseeing recruitment, role definition, interviewing, onboarding, performance management, and long-term team growth.
Establish and maintain operational standards for change management, release management, environment promotion, incident response, postmortems, on-call coverage, technical documentation, and runbooks.
Modernize legacy and undocumented infrastructure by introducing version control, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), standardized documentation, and sustainable infrastructure management practices.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity strategies, defining and validating recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for critical systems.
Introduce disciplined planning and execution practices, including sprint planning, estimation, resource allocation, and measurable delivery commitments.
Define and implement a comprehensive observability strategy across environments, covering centralized monitoring, logging, alerting, application performance monitoring (APM), and associated tooling.
Lead cloud cost optimization initiatives through resource right-sizing, committed-use discounts or reservations, and the reduction of unnecessary logging, storage, and infrastructure expenses.
Strengthen security and compliance practices in collaboration with security teams, including least-privilege access, periodic access reviews, key rotation, certificate automation, and vulnerability remediation.
Remain actively involved in engineering by building and reviewing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes workloads, and other core infrastructure components.
Partner with Data Engineering to maintain the infrastructure and tooling supporting data pipelines, including Snowflake account and warehouse administration, Airflow orchestration infrastructure, and secrets and connection management.
Coordinate with the architecture leadership team on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD platforms, and other technical decisions to ensure alignment with broader architectural standards.
Participate in the on-call rotation, particularly during the initial period, to maintain close operational involvement and establish high standards for incident response.
Collaborate with software engineering, data engineering, AI, and platform teams to deliver consistent environments and enable fast, secure, and reliable software releases.
Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices, making informed decisions about which solutions to build, purchase, or adopt.
Promote a culture of automation, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence across the DevOps function and the wider engineering organization.
