This opportunity is designed for an experienced medical device sales professional passionate about advancing innovative cardiovascular therapies. As Territory Manager, you will drive commercial growth across an assigned territory, developing relationships with hospitals, physicians, and key healthcare stakeholders. You will combine strategic sales planning with hands-on clinical support to help healthcare providers successfully implement advanced implantable medical technologies. The role involves educating clinical teams, supporting implant and follow-up procedures, and addressing technical questions to ensure effective therapy delivery. You will collaborate with commercial and product development teams to improve solutions while expanding market adoption. - Develop and execute territory growth strategies, including resource planning and deployment, to achieve patient implant, revenue, and commercial performance targets.
- Drive execution of territory plans and monitor key performance indicators to ensure business objectives are consistently met or exceeded.
- Use Salesforce, dashboards, forecasting tools, and commercial applications to manage sales activities, track performance, maintain accurate device inventory records, and support disciplined reporting.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the physiological principles, clinical applications, and technical features of implantable medical devices and related therapies.
- Provide hands-on clinical support during implant procedures, follow-up visits, and other clinical activities, helping healthcare professionals troubleshoot technical issues.
- Respond to technical inquiries, investigate problems, and deliver timely, effective solutions to healthcare providers and internal colleagues.
- Present clinical and technical information to cardiologists, hypertension specialists, cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to promote understanding and adoption of the therapies.
- Provide on-call clinical assistance as needed, including troubleshooting, one-on-one physician training, and in-service education programs for hospital personnel.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, advanced practice providers, clinical investigators, and other strategic healthcare contacts.
- Gather customer feedback and communicate product enhancement opportunities and new development ideas to research and development teams.
- Follow established commercial processes, maintain accurate reporting, and ensure effective implementation of sales strategies throughout the assigned territory.
- Partner with internal departments and healthcare stakeholders to overcome commercial barriers, address customer needs, and strengthen long-term relationships.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support territory performance and organizational objectives.
Requirements
~2 min read- A bachelor's degree or equivalent in health sciences, engineering, business, or a related discipline. A combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- At least 7–10 years of medical device sales and business development experience, specifically involving implantable medical devices.
- Demonstrated experience selling devices in cardiology, cardiovascular care, heart failure treatment, cardiac surgery, or a closely related therapeutic area. Direct experience with heart failure treatment devices is strongly preferred.
- Ability to quickly master complex medical, surgical, physiological, and active implantable device concepts.
- Strong understanding of the cardiology device market, including competing technologies, commercial strategies, and the relative advantages and limitations of different solutions.
- Proven success developing markets, executing commercial strategies, and driving program-based sales.
- Experience working with key opinion leaders, advanced practice providers, and other important healthcare stakeholders within the assigned territory.
- Patient-focused mindset, including familiarity with insurance authorization challenges and the ability to help navigate related processes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, objection-handling, and sales-closing skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, professional credibility, and the ability to influence and motivate others.
- Proven ability to forecast sales performance, establish priorities, and deliver against defined targets.
- Self-motivated, independent, resilient, and results-oriented, with the perseverance to overcome obstacles and sustain long-term customer relationships.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% annually, including overnight travel when required.
- A reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver's license in good standing.
- Valid identification approved for domestic air travel within the United States.
- An MBA or another advanced degree.
- Direct healthcare or clinical experience.
- Previous success in a clinical position or another role within a medical device commercial organization.
- Remote work environment requiring independent time management and self-direction.
- Regular interaction with internal departments, physicians, healthcare professionals, investigators, and customers.
- Ability to comfortably lift up to 10 pounds.
- Ability to meet applicable pre-screening and facility-specific credentialing requirements.
