The world of global advisory, audit and tax compliance services for large multi-nationals is rapidly changing and heavily dependent on technology.
KPMG Delivery Network (KDN) is a global organization that supports KPMG member firms in delivering global priority solutions to their clients across a number of different industries. KDN helps to enable growth, improve economies of scale, and discover new ways of collaboration and working.
You’ll be a part of the KPMG family working alongside some of our profession’s most skilled practitioners on rewarding programs and initiatives that are changing the way business operates, delivering value to KPMG's clients, and driving positive change in the communities we serve.
You’ll be assisting KDN to accelerate new ways of working, using cutting-edge technology and working together with our member firms located in nearly 150 countries to help us achieve our ambition to be the most trusted and trustworthy professional services firm.
As the KDN Platform Architect, you will own the platform architecture for KDN’s in-house Microsoft technology stack, defining the standards, reference architectures, and design patterns that govern how platforms are built, integrated, and evolved across the organisation.
KDN’s flagship platform is Solaris—a zero-trust, event-driven data and AI ecosystem built on Azure (AKS, Service Bus, Event Hubs, Microsoft Fabric, Azure AI services). Your role is to ensure architectural coherence across the platform’s cloud infrastructure, messaging layer, data lakehouse, and AI/ML components. You will lead design reviews, set non-functional requirements, define technology selection criteria, and maintain platform architecture artefacts that are used in Design Authority governance.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Platform Architecture - Define and maintain platform reference architectures, design patterns, and non-functional requirements for KDN’s Microsoft technology stack. Cover cloud infrastructure (Azure landing zones, AKS, networking, identity), messaging and integration (Service Bus, Event Hubs, Schema Registry, API Management), data platform (Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, medallion architecture), and AI/ML components (Azure AI services, vector stores, MLOps). Ensure patterns address scalability, security, resilience, and cost governance
- →Solution design - Lead platform design reviews and architecture assurance for delivery teams (KPMG India Technology, AI Labs, delivery centres). Review solution designs against reference architectures, assess deviations, and provide architectural guidance. Ensure delivery outputs conform to enterprise standards before progressing through environment gates (Dev → Test → Stage → Prod)
- →EA Artefacts - Maintain platform architecture artefacts in LeanIX and the EA standards registry: IT component fact sheets, technology standards, reference architecture documents, and architecture decision records (ADRs). Ensure platform landscape views are current and used as the authoritative source in Design Authority forums
- →Roadmap & evaluation - Define technology selection criteria and evaluate platform options for new capabilities as KDN’s enterprise application portfolio expands. Contribute to build-vs-buy assessments, vendor evaluations, and platform roadmap planning. Ensure alignment with KDN’s principles: build for differentiation, buy for commodity.
- →Governance - Contribute to enterprise-wide architecture governance by participating in Design Authority forums, pattern clinics, and architecture dojos. Mentor integration and data analysts within the EA team on platform standards and patterns. Support knowledge transfer that reduces dependency on individual architects.
- Significant experience as a platform architect, cloud architect, or senior solution architect working with Microsoft Azure cloud-native services at enterprise scale
- Deep hands-on knowledge of AKS (Kubernetes), Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, API Management, Azure Networking (VNet, Private Link, ExpressRoute), and Azure security services (Key Vault, Entra ID, RBAC)
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric or equivalent lakehouse/data platform architectures (Databricks, Synapse, Delta Lake) and the medallion pattern (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
- Understanding of AI/ML platform components: Azure AI Search, Cosmos DB, Redis, MLOps pipelines, and responsible AI governance (fairness, explainability, PII handling)
- Experience defining and enforcing reference architectures, design patterns, and non-functional requirements across distributed delivery teams
- Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep), CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices
- Strong understanding of zero-trust security principles, domain isolation patterns, and cloud cost governance (FinOps)
- Experience with enterprise architecture tooling (LeanIX preferred) and architecture governance processes (Design Authority, ADRs)
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate platform decisions into business language for governance forums and non-technical stakeholders
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or related discipline; Azure certifications (Solutions Architect Expert, AKS, Fabric Analytics Engineer) and TOGAF are desirable
