Metz Culinary Management is seeking dependable, team-oriented Cooks to join our dining team at Freed-Hardeman University.
This position supports our residential dining and catering operations and may include food preparation, cooking, serving, and production for a variety of dining stations and special events. Depending on experience and operational needs, team members may work in areas such as the main entrée station, grill, pizza, deli, salad bar, specialty stations, prep kitchen, or catering.
We are looking for individuals who take pride in preparing quality food, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and providing a great dining experience for our students, faculty, staff, and guests.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and production needs.
- →Wash, cut, slice, chop, portion, and prepare ingredients for daily production.
- →Work assigned cooking or service stations during meal periods.
- →Assist with batch cooking and advance preparation for upcoming meals and events.
- →Monitor food quality, appearance, portioning, and proper temperatures.
- →Follow established food safety, sanitation, labeling, dating, and storage procedures.
- →Maintain clean, safe, and organized workstations and equipment.
- →Properly rotate and store food products using FIFO procedures.
- →Assist with catering production, setup, service, and breakdown as needed.
- →Support other kitchen and dining areas based on operational needs.
- →Work cooperatively with cooks, supervisors, and other members of the dining team.
Requirements
~1 min read- Previous cooking, food preparation, restaurant, catering, or institutional dining experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety practices is preferred.
- Ability to follow recipes, production sheets, and instructions.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and assist in different areas of the operation.
This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Team members must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in kitchen, dining, storage, cooler, freezer, and catering environments.
Experience desired
Ability to apply elementary mathematical statistics that would apply to inventory and portioning
Willing to roll up sleeves and contribute where needed
