Montana Technological University invites applications for the faculty position within the Electrical Engineering Department at the Instructor 1 or Instructor 2 Level. Instructor Track requires BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent field. Position includes lab director duties. All candidates must have the ability to obtain a PE or EIT license in the state of Montana. The department offers BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering as well as a PhD in Energy Engineering and Science. Montana Tech is a special focus university with reputation for excellence localized in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. The department has a strong commitment to undergraduate education and maintains externally funded research programs in power systems a control systems. Applications screening starts immediately and continues until the position is filled. Possible start date of January 2027 or August 2027.

Duties:

Teach courses and labs for the Electrical Engineering Department.
Advise students and student projects.
Develop and maintain laboratory facilities within the Electrical Engineering department.
Provide service to the campus and community.
Participate in Electrical Engineering program development.

Required Qualifications for Instructor 1

Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited program.
Licensure: Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) license as an Electrical Engineer in Montana.

Required Qualifications for Instructor 2

Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited program.
Advanced Degree: MS in a technical area supporting an EE subject (e.g., engineering disciplines, physics, computer science).
Licensure: Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Montana within one year of hire.
Experience: College-level teaching experience with demonstrated excellent performance.

Physical Demands:
Candidates must be able to meet the following physical requirements, with or without a reasonable accommodation:

Ability to safely lift, carry, and transport laboratory equipment or instructional materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
Ability to ascend and descend flights of stairs while carrying equipment to access multi-level campus facilities and laboratory spaces.
