About the Role

NexGen Steel is growing rapidly, and we are expanding our Project Management team to support an increasing volume of cold-formed steel construction projects.

Our Project Managers oversee projects from the initial design phase through engineering, production, and final delivery. They serve as the primary point of coordination between clients, designers, engineers, and our manufacturing operations.

This is a technical project management role. Successful candidates should be comfortable reading construction drawings, identifying missing or conflicting information, discussing plans with clients and technical teams, and managing multiple projects through a design-to-manufacturing workflow.

You do not need to be a licensed engineer or have previous cold-formed steel experience. We are especially interested in candidates with backgrounds in construction project management, project engineering, estimating, architectural or structural design, drafting/detailing, steel fabrication, or building-component manufacturing.

What You'll Do

Manage Projects from Design Through Production

• Own a portfolio of concurrent projects from initial design deposit through engineering, production, and delivery.
• Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, approvals, and deliverables.
• Proactively identify delays, bottlenecks, and unresolved issues and drive them to resolution.
• Maintain accurate documentation of project decisions, revisions, approvals, and client communication.
  

Review Construction Plans

• Read and interpret architectural, structural, framing, and related construction drawings.
• Review plans for completeness and identify missing information, discrepancies, design conflicts, or constructability concerns.
• Help determine what additional information is needed before a project can move forward.
• Ensure approved project information can transition accurately into engineering and manufacturing.

Coordinate Clients, Designers & Engineers

• Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the design and engineering process.
• Translate questions and technical information between clients, designers, engineers, and internal teams.
• Coordinate plan revisions, RFIs, clarifications, approvals, and design changes.
• Keep stakeholders informed of project status, outstanding decisions, and upcoming milestones.

Coordinate with Manufacturing & Operations

• Prepare projects for a smooth handoff from approved design into production.
• Work with operations teams to align project requirements with manufacturing capabilities, schedules, and delivery expectations.
• Help prevent design or documentation issues from becoming production problems.

What We're Looking For

Required

• 3+ years of experience in project management, project engineering, construction coordination, estimating, drafting/detailing, design coordination, or a related technical role.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings or blueprints.
• Experience coordinating projects involving multiple stakeholders, revisions, deadlines, and technical requirements.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify inconsistencies or missing information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organization, documentation, and follow-through.
• Ability to independently manage multiple active projects in a remote work environment.

Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred:

• Commercial or residential construction
• Structural steel or cold-formed steel framing
• Steel fabrication or building-component manufacturing
• Architectural or structural design
• Construction estimating or preconstruction
• CAD drafting or detailing
• Project engineering
• Manufacturing or production environments

Technical Experience That Will Help You Stand Out

Experience with any of the following is a plus, but not required:

• Cold-formed steel (CFS) framing systems
• Architectural, structural, or framing plans
• AutoCAD or other CAD/design software
• Shop drawings, fabrication drawings, or construction detailing
• Scottsdale roll-forming equipment
• ScotSteel design/CAD software
• Remote or offshore engineering/design teams
• Design-to-manufacturing workflows
