Director of Strategic Partnerships and Operations (Part-Time)
PeerForward Bermuda
This is an opportunity to become the first-ever hire of PeerForward Bermuda and the on-the-ground leader of a movement that has spent the last five years unlocking the power of peers across the island. Working with Berkeley Institute, CedarBridge Academy, and Bermuda College, PeerForward Bermuda helps students take charge of their postsecondary futures and we're looking for someone excited to hit the ground running and build on everything we've already put in place.
Backed by PeerForward’s U.S. national team, which has spent 30 years perfecting the peer-led model and reaching more than 700,000 students, the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Operations will have two connected areas of focus: building the strategic partnerships with funders, donors, community and government stakeholders that support PeerForward Bermuda’s growth and sustainability; and providing the on-the-ground operational support that keeps the programme running smoothly. The role works under the direction of the CEO and his team on fundraising and external relations.
This is a home-based role for a Bermuda resident, as there is no central office, with regular in-person meetings, school visits, funder meetings and community events across the island.
Your new role
- Identify, cultivate and steward local donors and funders who support PeerForward Bermuda’s sustainability, in coordination with the CEO and Board Chair.
- Lead execution of PeerForward Bermuda’s annual fundraising and development efforts.
- Represent PeerForward Bermuda and its mission at donor meetings, community events, and civic and government convenings.
- Build and steward strategic partnerships with community organisations, civic leaders and government officials.
- Prepare grant applications, stewardship reports and donor communications in coordination with the PeerForward U.S. team.
- Provide on-the-ground programme support to the Director of Postsecondary Success [U.S.] as needed.
- Connect with school partners, including principals, counsellors and administrators, to maintain strong local relationships and support programme delivery.
- Build and manage vendor relationships supporting PeerForward Bermuda’s programme and organisational operations.
- Help coordinate logistics for Peer Leader onboarding and school-based activities.
- Support Board meeting preparation, including agendas, materials and follow-up.
- Help ensure the subsidiary operates in compliance with Bermuda regulatory requirements, working with PeerForward’s U.S. finance and legal teams.
Key Requirements:
- Genuine enthusiasm for PeerForward’s mission of empowering students from low-income communities through the power of peers.
- 7+ years of professional experience in management, fundraising, development, operations or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic development, including both resources and relationships, and comfort representing an organisation with public, private and community stakeholders.
- A track record of building strategic partnerships with community, civic or government stakeholders.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a collaborative, steady operating style.
- Comfortable working within a U.S.-based organisational structure with regular virtual collaboration across time zones.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, professional reports and donor-facing materials.
