Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager (Western Canada), the Operations Manager (British Columbia) serves as Second Harvest’s primary community representative and operational lead in British Columbia. As the organization’s key regional ambassador, this role is responsible for building, maintaining and continuously improving on strategic relationships with non-profit partners and community stakeholders in British Columbia.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring surplus food reaches the communities that need it most. Working closely with our Food Recovery & Partnerships and Supply Chain & Logistics teams, the Operations Manager coordinates food distribution strategies for donations across the supply chain from large-scale agricultural and CPG, to store-level retail and foodservice. The Manager identifies and mobilizes recipient organizations for food donations and helps ensure food is efficiently and equitably distributed throughout British Columbia.
The Operations Manager will also lead initiatives that strengthen food access in rural and remote communities, including managing strategic food purchases and developing sustainable food distribution solutions in regions where access challenges are greatest.
- Build, maintain and strengthen relationships with non-profit organizations, community groups, Indigenous organizations, municipalities, and other stakeholders.
- Lead the distribution of large-volume food donations across British Columbia. Collaborate with Food Recovery & Partnerships and Supply Chain & Logistics teams to ensure effective and timely food movement from donor to recipient.
- Assess network capacity and identify opportunities to strengthen recipient readiness for large-volume food donations.
- Identify opportunities to expand and strengthen Second Harvest’s network and community impact across the province.
- As a regional ambassador for Second Harvest, engage with diverse audiences to deliver presentations and participate in speaking engagements with the goal of increasing awareness and engagement across British Columbia.
- Conduct regular field visits to partners throughout British Columbia to assess needs, build relationships, and support operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities to grow Second Harvest programs and collaborate on special projects and new initiatives.
- Assess capacity gaps and opportunities to improve our food rescue operations. Work cross functionally to identify issues and improvements to enhance our overall food rescue operations.
- Oversee ongoing reporting and data collection to support continued growth and optimization.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.

- Must have valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel within BC.
