Who We Are:

SweetRush is a consulting, design, and staffing firm specializing in HR-related services that help foster life-centered businesses and organizations. We design unique learning experiences using agency-level graphics, storytelling techniques and leading-edge technology, build high-performing cultures and teams, and help our clients grow their learning departments with qualified professionals.

About the Role:

Future opportunities: SweetRush is always growing, and we’re looking for outstanding professionals (hopefully you) to work with us on exciting upcoming projects. The role described below is not for a project today. Our goal is to explore whether we’re a mutual fit so we can reach out to you and move quickly as soon as we need to expand.

We’re seeking highly experienced and versatile Freelance Web Developers to join our dynamic Custom Development team for future opportunities. This is a hands-on technical role for a developer who is comfortable building custom front-end web architecture and is actively leveraging AI to accelerate their coding workflows. You will frequently serve as a key technical resource on projects, taking ownership from conceptualization to deployment.

Your expertise will be crucial in building custom, high-impact learning solutions using modern web technologies like React, custom HTML5/JS, and our SweetRush Adapt framework. We are rapidly evolving our development methodologies; your comfort with agentic coding, AI API integrations, and rapidly prototyping design concepts will be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Custom Front-End Development: Act as a key technical contributor on highly tailored eLearning projects, focusing on front-end development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React to build within our custom Adapt framework.
  • AI & Agentic Workflows: Actively utilize AI coding assistants and agentic workflows to increase development efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and rapidly prototype custom HTML5 logic.
  • Advanced Integrations: Connect front-end learning experiences to middle-layer API servers, enabling advanced features like LLM-driven simulations, dynamic AI feedback, chatbots, and advanced xAPI data tracking.
  • Technical Expertise: Contribute to complex projects by proposing technical architecture solutions and collaborating directly with instructional designers, graphic designers, and project managers.

Technical Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience as a web developer with a strong portfolio of web applications, custom learning modules, or interactive web experiences.
  • Front-End Stack: Deep expertise in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern component-based frameworks (e.g. React).
  • AI Proficiency: Demonstrated experience using AI tools (e.g. Claude Code) to write, debug, and optimize code, as well as an understanding of how to implement standard AI APIs into web applications.
  • Modern eLearning Standards: Experience with responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG/508 compliance), LMS integration (SCORM/xAPI), and localization workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to identify and implement creative technical solutions.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of successfully collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Language: Must have strong English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • Autonomy: The ability to work independently, adapting to the client's timeline and driving a project to completion with a high degree of ownership.
  • Adaptability: A flexible mindset and the ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies as projects require.
  • Working Hours: Must be available to work US daytime hours to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration with the project team and clients.
