Responsibilities

→Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and menu plans.

→Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas in compliance with food safety regulations.

→Support inventory management by receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies to ensure freshness and reduce waste.

→Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared and served on schedule.

→Adhere to all food safety and hygiene standards to prevent contamination and ensure the health of all consumers.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

Basic knowledge of food service operations and food safety practices.

Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen tasks including lifting and carrying supplies.

Valid food handler’s certification or willingness to obtain one upon hire.

Previous experience working in a school or institutional kitchen setting.

Familiarity with menu planning and accommodating special dietary needs.

Additional food safety certifications such as ServSafe.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to communicate effectively with team members and school staff.

The required skills in food service and food safety are applied daily to ensure that all meals are prepared in a hygienic and efficient manner, meeting the nutritional needs of students. Knowledge of food service operations helps the Assistant Cook understand kitchen workflows and contribute to smooth meal service. * Outstanding guest service skills
* Ability to adapt and change in a fast paced environment
* Ability to do simple arithmetic
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to lift 35 pounds and stand for long periods of time
* Successfully pass a criminal background check
