We are looking for a driven Senior Consultant (Senior Account Manager equivalent) to join our dynamic and agile Advocacy team.
They will advise Hanover's public affairs clients on the latest political and policy agendas providing high-quality advice together with a creative contribution towards new business activity including acquisition, development and pitching.
This role offers the opportunity to project manage flagship accounts, develop lasting client relationships and play a central role in business development.
The successful candidate will join our award-winning, market-leading, public affairs practice, working with over twenty political specialists to advise some of the world's biggest brands on UK political and regulatory issues.
Our consultants work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment, and are equally in the office, at a pitch or at a networking event. We also enjoy being an extension of our clients' in-house teams.
Our clients include Meta, Trainline, Paramount, FSCS and Valero.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Provide timely and relevant tactical advice to clients on engagement opportunities, policy, and the mechanics of the political process.
- →Draft and review briefing notes for and about UK political stakeholders and policy issues, contributing strategic insight to monitoring reports and briefings.
- →Conduct stakeholder mapping interviews, evaluate findings and draft reports with clear tactical recommendations.
- →Build and maintain effective working relationships with relevant Parliamentary representatives, journalists, stakeholders, clients and other team members.
- →Identify and advise clients on the most effective way to approach and engage with key target stakeholder groups.
- →Attend and support meetings between clients and political stakeholders, ensuring delivery of follow-up actions are clear and timely.
- →Develop concepts for and supervise the delivery of stakeholder events.
- →Prepare and review submissions in response to consultations from Government and other key stakeholders.
- →Maintain a strong focus on quality, rigorously reviewing communications, reports and client deliverables to ensure accuracy and professionalism.
- →Maintain regular client contact, including attending and contributing to client meetings and, where appropriate, leading on internal account meetings.
- →Provide strong project management support across multiple accounts, assigning actions, keeping work on deadline and ensuring agendas and action notes are completed in a timely manner.
- →Support and mentor Interns, Account Executives and Senior Account Executives by providing guidance to improve quality of work and overall efficiency.
- →Contribute creatively towards new business pitches and lead on brainstorms with the wider team.
- →Identify prospective clients or new work streams from existing clients to create cross-sell opportunities and secure new income fees.
- →Demonstrate a developing new business and political network that can provide opportunities and intelligence for Hanover.
- Demonstrable public affairs experience within a Parliamentary office, consultancy or in-house team is essential.
- Very strong team-working, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent knowledge of UK policy and a passion for politics and current affairs, with a clear understanding of their impact on business objectives.
- Strong project management skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Understanding of budgeting, managing pipelines and developing new business opportunities.
- An appetite to build and expand your network of business, policy or political contacts.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- An appetite to learn and progress in the industry.
