The ideal candidate is an experienced mining professional with a strong background in open-pit or surface mining operations, demonstrated leadership experience, and a track record of successfully managing crews in a production-focused environment.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Supervise and coordinate daily mining operations to achieve production goals safely and efficiently.
- →Lead, mentor, and develop crews of operators, laborers, and support personnel.
- →Monitor productivity, equipment utilization, and workforce performance to maximize operational effectiveness.
- →Ensure compliance with all MSHA regulations, company safety policies, and environmental requirements.
- →Conduct pre-shift meetings, safety briefings, and workplace inspections.
- →Coordinate activities with maintenance, processing, geology, engineering, and other departments.
- →Investigate incidents, near misses, and operational issues, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- →Monitor and manage workforce scheduling, attendance, and shift coverage.
- →Track operational metrics and prepare reports on production, safety, and workforce performance.
- →Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce operating costs.
- →Promote a positive work culture focused on safety, teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
Requirements
~1 min read- Minimum of 5 years of mining operations experience, preferably in surface or open-pit mining environments.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or crew management experience leading teams in a mining, industrial, or heavy equipment operation.
- Proven experience managing multiple employees and contractors in a production environment.
- Strong understanding of surface mining methods, mobile equipment operations, safety practices, and production planning.
- Working knowledge of MSHA regulations and mining industry best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make sound operational decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and operational reporting systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to obtain site-specific certifications.
- Previous experience in gold mining operations.
- Experience supervising open-pit mining crews.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives, production optimization, and cost control.
- Knowledge of mine planning and equipment performance metrics.
- Ability to work in an active surface mining environment.
- Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays as operationally required.
- Must be able to wear required PPE and comply with all mine safety requirements.
- Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.

- Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills.
