EngineeringDevops Engineer

The Senior DevOps Engineer will help design, automate, and maintain cloud infrastructure that supports critical software used in clinical trial data management and regulatory submissions. This role combines infrastructure engineering, deployment automation, system monitoring, and production troubleshooting to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable services. Working primarily with AWS and modern DevOps tools, the successful candidate will improve deployment workflows, strengthen system observability, and resolve complex technical issues across development, staging, and production environments. They will collaborate closely with software engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to support efficient delivery and continuous improvement. The position offers significant autonomy, opportunities to lead infrastructure initiatives, and the chance to contribute to technology that helps accelerate medicine development. Success requires strong technical judgment, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a distributed, remote-first environment.

  • Automate cloud infrastructure: Write and maintain Terraform code to provision, deploy, configure, and manage AWS infrastructure reliably and consistently.

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines: Develop, optimize, and support continuous integration and continuous delivery workflows using tools such as CircleCI, Jenkins, and GitHub Actions.

  • Improve monitoring and observability: Design, implement, and maintain monitoring systems, alerts, and dashboards using tools such as InfluxDB, Grafana, and Amazon CloudWatch.

  • Manage production incidents: Investigate alerts, troubleshoot service disruptions, analyze logs, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to restore service and prevent recurrence.

  • Maintain infrastructure reliability: Diagnose and resolve infrastructure issues across development, staging, and production environments, proactively identifying potential problems before they affect users.

  • Support engineering teams: Manage development infrastructure and maintain stable testing environments so software engineers can build, test, and release applications efficiently.

  • Execute infrastructure changes: Plan and implement production change requests, database migrations, and server migrations while maintaining operational stability.

  • Lead technical project planning: Break down large-scale infrastructure initiatives into clearly defined epics, subtasks, and user stories, supporting effective execution and prioritization.

  • Create operational documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, change requests, troubleshooting guides, and other operational resources.

  • Collaborate across teams: Communicate effectively with engineering teams, project managers, internal stakeholders, and customers through tickets, email, internal wikis, and presentations.

  • Mentor and share knowledge: Support junior engineers, document technical processes, and provide guidance that enables colleagues to maintain and operate completed projects.

  • Manage remote responsibilities: Balance multiple projects and competing priorities independently while collaborating with distributed colleagues through chat, email, and video calls.
