Pastry Sous Chef 

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Pastry Sous Chef to support the Executive Pastry Chef in leading daily pastry and bakery operations, ensuring the consistent production of high-quality desserts, pastries, breads, and baked goods for resort restaurants, banquets, and food & beverage outlets.

As part of our leadership team, you’ll embody our Promise to Lead with Love—guiding, supporting, and inspiring associates while delivering extraordinary guest experiences. You’ll join a talented, results-driven team focused on building strong customer relationships.  

Key Responsibilities  

• Lead daily pastry operations and ensure high-quality, consistent production.
• Train, coach, and support pastry team members.
• Assist with scheduling, staffing, and production planning based on business needs.
• Maintain quality, presentation, food safety, and sanitation standards.
• Support inventory management, ordering, and cost control efforts.
• Assist with menu development, recipe testing, and special event production.
• Monitor labor and operational efficiency while supporting department goals.
• Help create an engaging, positive, and collaborative team environment.
• Ensure exceptional guest experiences through quality products and service.
• Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and company standards.

What We’re Looking For  

• Experienced pastry professional with strong baking and dessert production skills.
• Proven leader who can train, motivate, and develop teams.
• Background in a high-volume hotel, resort, banquet, bakery, or restaurant environment.
• Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about quality and presentation.
• Strong communicator with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.
• Knowledge of food safety, inventory management, and cost controls.
• Team-focused professional committed to operational excellence and guest satisfaction.
• Flexible and adaptable, including availability for weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
