The Role

The Assistant General Manager & Head Coach leads class quality and supports center operations at StrongerLife Plano. You partner with the General Manager to run the center day to day and own the standard of every class on the schedule. When the General Manager is out, you lead the center.

The role carries four responsibilities in equal weight:

  1. Keeping the center organized, scheduled and running on time
  2. Managing member records accurately in our member management system, from first lead through attendance and retention
  3. Guiding prospects through tours, trials and the membership conversation
  4. Leading inspiring group classes for adults 55+ and developing the coaching team to deliver the same experience
The ideal candidate is as comfortable in front of a full class as at the front desk, brings a background in exercise science, kinesiology or coaching active adults, and leads people with energy, clarity and follow-through.

About StrongerLife

StrongerLife is group fitness built for active adults 55+. Our programming was developed by an advisory committee of geriatric, medical and fitness professionals and trains six pillars in every class: strength, balance, endurance, bone density, cognitive health and mobility. Members come for results and stay for the community.

Why Plano

StrongerLife Plano is a new center, and you would be part of the founding team. That means a small-startup environment: one center, a tight team, and real influence over how classes run, how members are welcomed and how the culture forms from day one.

You also get the support most startups don't have. StrongerLife headquarters is in Frisco, minutes from the center, with an energetic HQ team behind you on training, programming, marketing and operations. The best of both worlds: the ownership of building something new, with experienced backup close by.

Key Responsibilities

Coach

  • Lead high-energy, 50-minute group classes for adults 55+ across all six pillars: strength, balance, endurance, bone density, cognitive health and mobility
  • Demonstrate movements, coach proper technique, and offer options and progressions so every member is challenged at the right level
  • Keep every class safe: read the room, know each member's notes before class, and follow center safety procedures
  • Build real relationships with members before, during and after class
  • Explain the why behind the programming clearly and confidently
Lead the Coaching Team

  • Set and hold the class-quality standard for every coach in the center
  • Observe classes and give coaches regular, specific feedback
  • Partner with the General Manager to recruit, onboard, train and develop coaches
  • Prepare coaches on new programming before it reaches the floor
  • Build the coach schedule and cover gaps so no class is missed
Operate

  • Keep member records, attendance and class bookings accurate in the member management system
  • Manage daily, weekly and monthly center routines: opening and closing, cleaning, equipment and maintenance
  • Track center KPIs with the General Manager and use the numbers to make decisions
  • Communicate clearly with the team and HQ through the right channels
  • Serve as manager on duty when the General Manager is out
Grow Membership

  • Follow up with every lead quickly by phone, text and email
  • Lead tours and trial classes that show prospects exactly what StrongerLife feels like
  • Guide the membership conversation around each prospect's goals
  • Prepare new members for their first class and check in through their first weeks
  • Represent StrongerLife at local community events to build awareness in Plano
What We're Looking For

Must-haves

  • Experience leading group fitness classes, ideally with adults 55+
  • Strong presence in front of a room and the energy to make a class the best part of someone's day
  • Comfort talking with prospects about their goals and guiding them to the right membership
  • Highly organized, with follow-through on details, schedules and records
  • Experience leading or developing people, formally or informally
  • Working knowledge of exercise technique, body mechanics and physiology
  • CPR/AED certified, or willing to certify before your first class
  • Availability that includes early mornings, evenings and some weekends
  • HS diploma or equivalent
Strongly preferred

  • Fitness and wellness certifications (examples: ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA-CSCS, or a specialty in active aging)
  • Degree or coursework in exercise science, kinesiology or a related field
  • Experience in a membership-based business, including sales, enrollment or member retention
  • Experience with member management systems, scheduling software or a CRM
  • Background in physical therapy, occupational therapy or athletic training
StrongerLife Leader DNA

  • Professional: consistent excellence in behavior, appearance and communication
  • Passionate: loves coaching and is driven to serve adults 55+
  • Presence: commands the room and holds attention
  • Performer: makes classes fun, energizing and memorable
  • Teacher: explains clearly and translates the why behind every movement
  • Mentor: builds deep relationships with members and develops the coaches around them
  • Organized: keeps the schedule, the records and the details right so the center runs smoothly
Hiring Process

  1. Video interview
  2. In-person interview, including a short teach-back where you lead part of a class
  3. Mock tour: walk us through StrongerLife as if we were a prospect
  4. Paid StrongerLife coach and sales training [TBD: length]
  5. Offer
Why StrongerLife

  • Founding-team role: help open and shape a new center from the ground up
  • HQ minutes away: training, programming and operations support from our Frisco headquarters
  • Clear growth path: AGM & Head Coach to General Manager to multi-unit leadership as we expand
  • Ongoing development: paid training, coaching and leadership development
  • Work that matters: see members get stronger, steadier and more confident every week
  • Compensation: [TBD: salary plus performance bonus; benefits]
