Position: Sous Chef (River Cruise)

Contract Details:

This is a full-time, seasonal position with a minimum contract length of 6 months. The position will involve working on board one of our luxury river cruise ships, which travels along some of the most beautiful rivers in the world. As a Sous Chef, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, while also having the chance to explore new destinations and cultures.

Job Responsibilities:

- Assist the Executive Chef in managing the daily operations of the galley kitchen

- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food preparation and presentation

- Create and develop new menu items, taking into consideration guest preferences and dietary restrictions

- Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation standards

- Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed

- Monitor and control food costs and waste

- Collaborate with other departments, such as the dining room and bar, to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests

- Participate in menu planning and special events, such as themed dinners and cooking demonstrations

- Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maritime laws and regulations

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 3 years experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume, fine dining establishment

- Culinary degree or equivalent experience

- Strong leadership and communication skills

- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

- Knowledge of different cuisines and cooking techniques

- Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards

- Ability to work and live in a close-knit team environment for an extended period of time

- Fluent in English, additional languages are a plus
