The Warren Street Hotel, located in the heart of Tribeca, reflects Firmdale’s signature style—where creativity, service excellence, and attention to detail come together to deliver unforgettable stays and events.

The Head of Catering & Events is responsible for leading, developing, and growing a service- and profit-driven Events Department at the Warren Street Hotel. This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who can drive revenue, cultivate client relationships, and ensure flawless execution of all events while fostering a culture aligned with Firmdale’s high standards of service and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the VP of Sales to convert leads into strong client relationships and confirmed business
  • Actively prospect, solicit, and grow local corporate catering accounts through sales calls, networking, trade shows, and on-site entertainment
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients and stakeholders within the local business community
  • Develop budgets and forecasts; implement strategies to meet and exceed revenue goals
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of events from booking through execution
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
  • Finalize event requirements while identifying upselling opportunities to maximize revenue
  • Collaborate with Sales and Events teams to optimize function space usage
  • Review all function setups to ensure client satisfaction at the start of each event
  • Address challenges proactively and ensure seamless event delivery
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of hotel facilities, event spaces, and operational capabilities
  • Communicate effectively across all departments to ensure alignment and execution excellence
  • Ensure accuracy of event billing and conduct final bill reviews
  • Recruit, interview, and onboard top talent for the Events team
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Event Management team
  • Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals
  • Address team challenges and resolve conflicts with professionalism
  • Identify training needs and support ongoing professional development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Hospitality, Business, or related field
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Catering & Event Management, preferably within a 4- or 5-star hotel environment
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional guest experiences and driving revenue growth
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing and developing teams
  • Salesforce and Opera knowledge is a plus
  • Passion for hospitality, catering, and client relationship building
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
  • Detail-oriented with a results-driven mindset
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across diverse teams
