Gloucester Biotechnology Academy, the educational entity of GMGI, delivers a Biotechnology Certificate Program that prepares high school graduates for careers as technicians in biotechnology and life science laboratories. Our model emphasizes immersive, hands-on application of techniques, instrumentation, and career skills necessary for success in a professional laboratory.
The Academy is seeking an Enrollment & Partnerships Manager to lead the development and execution of student pipeline and employer partnership strategies across the Greater Boston region. Reporting to the Director of Enrollment & Partnerships, this role drives enrollment growth, builds industry relationships, and ensures strong job placement outcomes.
Position Overview
The Enrollment & Partnerships Manager is a relationship-driven leader who builds strong connections between students and the biotech industry. This role focuses on developing recruitment strategies and employer partnerships that align training with workforce needs.
You’ll operate at both a strategic and hands-on level, shaping long-term pipeline efforts while engaging directly with students, educators, and industry partners. This role requires strong judgment, independence, and initiative, with a high degree of autonomy and ownership over key outcomes. You’ll be expected to think critically, solve problems, and effectively influence a diverse range of stakeholders.
As a primary external representative of the Academy, you’ll collaborate with internal teams while leading initiatives that drive enrollment and job placement outcomes.
This position is based in Boston and is primarily onsite, with regular travel to partner schools, employers, and community organizations.
Key Responsibilities
Student Recruitment Strategy & Pipeline Development
- Lead and execute a student recruitment strategy to build a strong, sustainable pipeline aligned with program capacity and workforce demand
- Build and manage partnerships with high schools, community organizations, workforce groups, and other student-serving institutions
- Drive Boston-based outreach efforts targeting young adults (18–30), including messaging, engagement, and enrollment campaigns
- Integrate an equity-centered and data-informed approach to recruitment, ensuring inclusive access and strong engagement across diverse communities.
- Represent the Academy at school visits, info sessions, and community events
- Use data and stakeholder feedback to continuously refine recruitment strategy and improve outcomes
- Collaborate with internal teams to optimize the full enrollment process, from outreach through onboarding
- Plan and lead key recruitment events (e.g., open houses, info sessions, site visits)
Industry Partnerships & Workforce Alignment
- Develop and execute a scalable industry partnership strategy to support co-op placements and long-term employment outcomes
- Build and manage relationships with biotech and life sciences employers, positioning the Academy as a trusted workforce partner
- Secure co-op placements and job opportunities for students and graduates
- Lead employer engagement efforts (events, mentorship, mock interviews, career readiness initiatives)
- Oversee co-op matching, track outcomes, and use employer feedback to improve programs
- Support graduates in transitioning to full-time roles or continued education
- Build and refine systems to scale partnerships and improve placement outcomes
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in business development, workforce development, talent pipeline building, or a related field; experience in or closely connected to the biotech/life sciences sector strongly preferred.
- Experience building partnerships, pipelines, or placing talent
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience leading outreach or engagement efforts
- Comfortable in public-facing, external roles
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results independently.
- Experience working across teams
- Familiarity with work-based learning programs (co-ops, internships, etc.) preferred
- Understanding of life sciences workforce needs and hiring trends
- Mission-driven, collaborative, and committed to expanding access to biotech careers.
