Drive revenue growth at the intersection of media, storytelling, and innovation by connecting top retail brands with some of the most iconic voices in publishing.  As a Sales Director at Hearst Magazines, you’ll help shape strategic partnerships for some of the world’s most recognizable brands while connecting retail clients to premium print, digital, social, and experiential opportunities across our expansive portfolio.

Key Responsibilities (What You Are Doing)

  • Represent a defined list of retail accounts across the Hearst Magazines portfolio, driving revenue opportunities across print, digital, and social platforms.
  • Build and grow relationships with a defined list of retail accounts to maximize revenue opportunities.
  • Execute strategic sales tactics and deliver compelling presentations that align client objectives with Hearst’s cross-platform solutions.
  • Partner with internal marketing, research, content, and talent teams to respond to RFPs and develop proactive, insight-driven proposals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and agency partners to identify growth opportunities and deepen strategic partnerships.
  • Provide expertise across key distribution platforms, including Direct Digital, Programmatic, Print, and Social, while helping clients evolve their media strategies.
  • Manage pipeline activity and revenue forecasting through Salesforce, ensuring accurate reporting and consistent business tracking.
  • Deliver valuable market and category insights to leadership to support ongoing sales and marketing strategy development.
  • Achieve and exceed revenue goals while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing sales culture.

 

Qualifications (What We’re Looking For)

  • 5+ years of relevant media sales experience or equivalent experience.
  • Strong industry relationships and established client and agency contacts within the retail vertical.
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth across integrated media platforms, including print, digital, and social.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop strategic client solutions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and social media platforms; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and team-oriented with a proactive approach to business development.
  • This role is based in New York and operates on a hybrid in-office schedule.

The base salary range for this role is $120,000-$160,000. This role is also eligible for bonus and/or commission compensation. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location.
