Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the purchasing activities of an establishment

Develop purchasing policies and procedures and control the purchasing department budget

Identify vendors of materials, equipment, or supplies

Evaluate cost and quality of goods or services

Negotiate or oversee the negotiation of purchase contracts

Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials

Review and process claims against suppliers

Interview, hire, and oversee the training of staff.

Creating, monitoring, analyzing, and improving the demand forecast for both the short and long term

Cooperation with the sales and supply chain (operations) teams and contribute to the clarity towards other areas about capacity needs.

Procurement and purchasing agents and officers usually require a bachelor's degree or college diploma in business administration, commerce or economics.

3-5 years of work experience in the supply chain for sourcing specialists and analysts is usually required (a comparable, relevant position)
