Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: 203A Log Canoe Circle, Stevensville, MD 21666
Work Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Pay Range: $85,000 - $135,000/annually

Hydrasearch, a proud affiliate of The Dixon Group, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Stevensville, MD. This role is responsible for the design, development, and continuous improvement of engineered fluid-transfer components and mechanical hardware used in demanding commercial, aerospace, and defense applications.  As a hands-on individual contributor, you will lead products through the full lifecycle, from requirements and design through validation, production, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, customers, and suppliers to solve complex engineering challenges, drive technical decisions, and deliver practical, manufacturable solutions. Product-specific industry experience is not required; success in this role is driven by strong engineering judgment, technical leadership, and a passion for solving problems.

• →Lead complex product development and engineering projects from requirements through validation, production release and lifecycle support. Apply engineering judgment to make technical decisions and develop practical, manufacturable solutions.
• →Design and improve mechanical components and assemblies, create 3D CAD models and engineering drawings, apply mechanical design and GD&T principles, support prototyping and testing, and lead design activities from concept through production.
• →Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality and production teams to troubleshoot complex technical issues, resolve product and process challenges, support corrective actions, and improve manufacturing and assembly processes.
• →Lead efforts to improve product quality, reliability, manufacturability, cost and production efficiency. Analyze field, quality and production information to identify improvement opportunities and manage engineering changes and configuration control.
• →Partner with suppliers and internal teams to communicate technical requirements, resolve technical issues, support engineering decisions and maintain effective product lifecycle management.
• →Provide technical guidance to engineers and drafters, support design reviews, share engineering knowledge and promote sound engineering judgment and practical problem solving across the team.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with increasing responsibility in mechanical design, product development or manufacturing engineering.
• Demonstrated experience taking ownership of complex engineering projects from concept through production and lifecycle support.
• Ability to work directly with manufacturing personnel, suppliers and cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical information clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation; strong fundamentals in mechanical design, statics, tolerances and manufacturing methods.
• Ability to make sound engineering decisions and balance performance, quality, cost, manufacturability and schedule.

• Familiarity with machined, cast, forged, fabricated, and assembled products.
• Knowledge of fluid-transfer components and related mechanical hardware.
• Background supporting aerospace, defense, marine, or other demanding industrial applications.
• Working knowledge of bills of material (BOMs), routers, and work instructions.
• Involvement with engineering change processes and configuration control.
• Proficiency in GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5.
• Familiarity with SolidWorks PDM or a comparable product data management system.
• Understanding of AS9100, ISO 9001, or other controlled manufacturing environments.
