Under the guidance of the HR Director, the HR Manager serves as a strategic partner to assigned business units, with a primary focus on supporting Operations. This role carries out responsibilities across the following functional areas: employee relations, training and development, organizational development, and employment. The HR Manager serves as a trusted advisor to operations leaders and front-line managers, providing guidance on HR policies, employee relations matters, workforce planning, and compliance.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate agility, adaptability, and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role is highly collaborative and requires strong judgment, a solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.

 

This is an Individual Contributor role based in Signal Hill, CA.

 

Responsibilities

May include, but are not limited to, the following

  • →Partners with management to communicate HR policies, procedures, programs, laws, and best practices.
  • →Protects the interests of employees and the company in accordance with HR policies and governmental laws and regulations.
  • →Ensures compliance with all HR policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • →Handles employee relations counseling, disciplinary actions, separations, and exit interviews.
  • →Maintains employee-related databases; prepares and analyzes reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company; and prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested.
  • →Assists with the development of Human Resources policies; provides advice, assistance, and follow-up on policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • →Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions.
  • →Leads and participates in HR-related projects as needed.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of HR experience, including demonstrated experience in an HRBP or similar strategic HR role.
  • Must possess in-depth knowledge of federal and state laws across multiple states.
  • Must have prior experience supporting Operations in a blue-collar environment.
  • Must demonstrate agility, adaptability, and the ability to effectively navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Must possess technical writing skills.
  • Must be capable of working independently and collectively with the HR team.
  • Must possess strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft 365.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Experience with utilizing and navigating ADP or another HRIS (Human Resources Information System)
  • Some knowledge of California law.
  • Prior employee relations experience is strongly preferred, including conducting investigations, managing disciplinary processes, and advising managers on complex employee matters.
