Owns the commercial relationship with one or more mining clients across all projects, sites and years. The Key Account Manager is accountable for the health, growth and profitability of the account as a whole — not for the execution of any individual project. This role is the company's face to client executives, procurement and supply chain, and is the single point of accountability for whether the client wants to hire us again.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Own the written account plan: client organization map, capital and sustaining forecast, competitor position, target work, and growth objectives for the next 12–36 months.
- Maintain executive-level relationships across client operations, engineering, supply chain and maintenance leadership.
- Track the client's capital plan and turnaround/outage calendar; position the company ahead of solicitation.
- Lead quarterly business reviews with the client and internal leadership.
- Make the bid / no-bid recommendation and present it to the Sr. Project Manager and operations leadership for concurrence.
- Own pricing strategy, competitive positioning and the win theme; the estimating team owns the numbers, the KAM owns the strategy.
- Assemble and submit proposals; ensure every proposal is reviewed by the operations resource who will be accountable for executing it.
- Lead proposal debriefs — wins and losses — and feed results back into the account plan.
- Lead negotiation of MSAs, rate sheets, terms and conditions, and general contract vehicles; route to Legal and executive signature per the Delegation of Authority.
- Own commercial terms that span projects: insurance, indemnity, payment terms, escalation, rate adjustments.
- Escalate aged receivables and payment disputes with the client's commercial organization.
- Own the client relationship dimension of claims and disputes; the Sr. Project Manager owns the substance and merit.
- Conduct structured client satisfaction reviews at project completion and at least annually at the account level.
- Route client complaints to the accountable operations leader with a documented closure date; verify closure with the client.
- Communicate client priorities, pain points and cultural expectations to project teams before mobilization.
Requirements
~1 min read- 10+ years in industrial, mining or heavy civil construction, with at least 5 in a client-facing commercial or project leadership role.
- Demonstrated understanding of mine operations: pit, plant, tailings, stockpile, conveyance, and the difference between capital and sustaining work.
- Conversant in all six self-performed service lines — mechanical, structural, civil, concrete, piping and electrical — sufficient to scope a pursuit and to recognize when work falls outside what we self-perform.
- Track record of growing an account year over year and of retaining a client through a performance problem.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Business, or equivalent field-earned experience.
- MSHA Part 46/48 as required for site access; valid 5000-23.
- Fluent in contract language: MSA vs. work order, T&M vs. unit price vs. lump sum, liquidated damages, back-charges, lien rights.
- MSHA Part 46/48 training as applicable to the site, with a valid 5000-23 certificate.
- Company and client contractor orientation, and site-specific training, completed before site access.
- Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record where site or company driving is required.
- Ability to pass pre-employment and site-required screening, including fit-for-duty where applicable.

- Split between office and active mine sites. Site visits require full PPE and current MSHA credentials; exposure to heat, cold, dust, noise and uneven terrain. Occasional walking of active construction areas.
This role requires compliance with all applicable safety regulations, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and Loenbro's Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
