- Serves as the direct manager to the Manager, People Operations as a strategic and escalation partner on complex benefits matters and leave management
- Serves as direct manager to the People Services Specialist, providing guidance on day to day employee relations, performance matters, and employee transitions
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Administer multi-state leave and accommodation programs, including FMLA, ADA, state/local leave, parental, STD/LTD
- →Run the interactive/accommodation process with defensible documentation
- →Coordinate workers' comp claims and OSHA recordkeeping/reporting
- Oversee the performance cycle, goal-setting, and calibration/talent-review process
- Manage succession planning cycle collaborating with the Chief People Officer and other senior leadership
- Coach and equip managers on performance conversations and development planning
- Own intake and workplace investigations for the People Operations group, with defensible documentation and consistent outcomes
- Serve as escalation point for complex matters
- Manage the performance management lifecycle: verbal warnings, written warnings, PIPs
- Partner with Legal on involuntary terminations, risk assessment, and separation documentation
- Oversee offboarding, exit interviews, and unemployment claims; coordinate timely access deprovisioning with IT/Security, ensure state-specific final-pay compliance along side payroll team
- Own HRIS data integrity, lifecycle transactions, policy/handbook administration, and people reporting
- Support HR due diligence and post-close people integration for acquisitions (benefits harmonization, census, leave/PTO alignment)
- 7–10+ years in HR/People Operations, including team leadership
- Required depth across benefits/total rewards, multi-state leave & ADA/FMLA, performance management, and employee relations/investigations, expertise in each, not just familiarity
- Strong multi-state employment-law knowledge; GovCon/federal-contractor HR compliance a plus
- HRIS proficiency required; UKG Pro experience preferred but not required (must ramp quickly on the platform)
- Demonstrated AI knowledge and use
- SHRM-SCP / SPHR strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
