About the Role
~1 min readThe Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing a high-volume portfolio of Wunderkind’s SMB clients, with a focus on retention, renewals, and expansion. You’ll own the commercial client relationship, develop a strong understanding of each client’s business priorities, and take a consultative approach to identifying opportunities that deepen the partnership and drive additional value through Wunderkind’s platform and solutions.
You’ll partner closely with Customer Success, Portfolio Directors, and other cross-functional teams to ensure clients are realizing value while maintaining clear ownership of the relationship, renewal strategy, and expansion opportunities.
This role requires someone who can balance relationship building with commercial discipline. You’ll manage a high-volume book of business, prioritize effectively across risk and opportunity, and turn a strong understanding of your clients’ businesses into retention and growth.
Success in this role is measured by Gross Retention, Expansion, and Client Relationship Management.
Responsibilities

Own renewal strategy and outcomes across an assigned portfolio of SMB clients, proactively identifying risks and developing action plans to support strong retention.

Build trusted relationships with key client stakeholders and understand the business priorities, partnership history, and internal dynamics that influence renewal decisions.

Partner closely with Customer Success and Portfolio Directors, bringing client context, relationship insights, and commercial strategy to renewal conversations.

Surface risks early and drive clear next steps rather than waiting for renewal conversations to expose them.

Maintain accurate renewal forecasts and ensure client risks, opportunities, and next steps are clearly documented.

Lead renewal conversations with confidence, balancing client needs with Wunderkind’s commercial objectives.

Identify opportunities to grow existing client relationships through additional products, capabilities, and solutions.

Develop a strong understanding of client objectives and connect relevant Wunderkind capabilities to opportunities for incremental value and revenue growth.

Lead expansion opportunities from identification through close, including discovery, positioning, solution alignment, and internal coordination.

Take a consultative approach to growth. Understand the business problem first, then connect it to the right solution rather than simply selling additional products.

Maintain an active pipeline of expansion opportunities and provide accurate forecasting against growth targets.

Partner with Customer Success and other internal teams to turn client performance, needs, and evolving priorities into thoughtful growth opportunities.

Serve as a key relationship owner for assigned accounts, ensuring a consistent and professional client experience throughout the lifecycle.

Build real relationships across the client organization and develop a strong understanding of each client’s business, objectives, challenges, and growth potential.

Communicate Wunderkind’s value clearly and confidently, helping clients understand how our platform and capabilities can support their evolving needs.

Navigate challenging conversations around risk, renewals, expectations, and commercial terms with professionalism and sound judgment.

Manage a high-volume book of business, prioritizing activity based on client health, renewal timing, revenue opportunity, and risk.

Maintain accurate and timely account, opportunity, renewal, pipeline, and forecasting information within Salesforce.

Partner across Customer Success, Portfolio Directors, Professional Services, Product, and other teams to align on client needs and support account outcomes.

Leverage processes, tools, data, automation, and AI to manage the portfolio efficiently and consistently at scale.

Maintain strong account discipline and visibility so internal partners have a clear understanding of account health, commercial opportunities, risks, and next steps.

Requirements

3–5 years of experience in a client-facing Account Management, Business Development, Customer Success, or similar commercial role, preferably within SaaS, marketing technology, or a related environment.

Demonstrated experience managing renewals, expansion opportunities, or a revenue-generating book of business with success against retention and growth targets.

Strong relationship-building, communication, negotiation, and consultative skills, with the ability to understand client objectives and identify opportunities to drive additional value.

Experience managing a portfolio or book of business with multiple simultaneous renewals, opportunities, and competing priorities.

Strong business judgment and problem-solving skills.

Experience with digital marketing, marketing technology, or consumer brands.

Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM to manage accounts, opportunities, pipeline, and forecasting.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to drive outcomes through teams you do not directly manage.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
The base salary range for this role is $85,000-$100,000 base + variable. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each specific candidate; including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, applicable certifications, and geographic work location. This may vary depending on living location and market rate.
