About the Role
~1 min readAs a Team Leader at our Elmdon Plant, you will take day-to-day ownership of people and production activity within an assigned assembly area. You will help ensure operations run safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards by coordinating resources, monitoring hourly performance and responding quickly to operational issues.
This is an opportunity to provide visible leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will set clear expectations, support colleagues to develop their capability and work with operational support teams to maintain production flow and deliver agreed objectives.
Responsibilities
~1 min readYou will lead employees across the assigned area, allocate work and coordinate production colleagues, forklift truck drivers and technicians so that people, equipment and processes operate effectively. You will monitor performance against the production plan, maintain hourly pace boards and escalate risks or shortfalls promptly to Shift Management.
You will maintain product and process quality through production first-off approvals, hourly audits and adherence to operating, packing and quality instructions. You will also control non-conforming products, maintain accurate training records and support fair, consistent management of attendance, conduct and performance.
Health, safety and wellbeing will be central to your role. You will reinforce correct PPE use, respond to hazards and near misses, and drive continuous improvement through structured problem-solving, process audits, housekeeping and 5S activity.
You will have experience of leading or coordinating people in a production or manufacturing environment, together with the ability to manage changing operational priorities and respond effectively to production, quality and safety issues. You will communicate clearly, coach and develop colleagues, take ownership and escalate concerns appropriately.
Working knowledge of production quality controls, process auditing and structured problem-solving is important, as is competence in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Automotive manufacturing experience, a relevant team-leading qualification, knowledge of IATF 16949 or ISO 9001, and experience of 8D or 5S activity would be advantageous.
