Our client Established in 2001, is a premier TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) college offering comprehensive, student-focused vocational training in Malaysia across fields like Computer Systems (IT), Hospitality, Information System (Office Administration), and Electrical Installation and Maintenance.
They are seeking a meticulous and commercially Accounts Executive to manage the full spectrum of financial operations at their private college. This role is central to ensuring financial discipline, fee revenue management, and compliance with both institutional policies and statutory requirements. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast-paced private education environment, balancing student-facing fee processes with backend financial reporting.
- Oversee end-to-end fee collection including tuition, hostel, transport, and exam fees across all programmes.
- Maintain up-to-date fee ledgers and follow up on outstanding dues, fee defaulters, and payment plans.
- Issue and manage receipts, fee concessions, and scholarship disbursements in coordination with the admissions team.
- Liaise with students and parents professionally to resolve fees issues, billing queries and discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate books of accounts including cash, bank, purchase, sales, and journal ledgers monthly.
- Process accounts payable (vendor invoices, utility bills, infrastructure expenses) and accounts receivable in a timely manner.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and flag discrepancies to the Finance Manager.
- Manage petty cash and ensure proper documentation of all transactions.
- Support payroll processing in coordination with the HR department, including salary disbursement and deduction tracking.
- Ensure timely compliance with SST and other applicable statutory obligations.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial MIS reports, income-expenditure. statements, and budget utilisation reports for management review
- Assist in preparation of annual financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.
- Maintain documentation for trust/society filings, and other regulatory or accreditation requirements specific to private institutions.
- Support the Finance Manager during internal audits and fee regulation committee reviews.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, LCCI or ACCA preferred.
- 1 - 2 years of relevant experience; prior experience in a private school, college, or educational trust is a strong advantage.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as UBS systems will be an advantage.
- Strong working knowledge of SST, income tax provisions, and audit procedures.
- Advanced MS Excel skills; familiarity with Google Sheets and ERP-based fee management portals.
- Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with students, parents, faculty, and vendors.
