Backflip is a venture-backed FinTech committed to becoming the leader in residential real estate investment financing. Our vision is to increase people’s love for their communities by investing in housing and improving the physical world. To do that, we need people who are inspired to modernize real estate investing by connecting entrepreneurs with sophisticated capital.

The Sales Development Representative is a driven, relationship-focused sales professional responsible for building the pipeline that powers our growth. This role exists to identify, engage, and qualify real estate investors, fix-and-flip operators, and referral partners — and to connect them with our Account Executive team at exactly the right moment.

This is a high-activity, high-impact role for someone who thrives on outbound prospecting, moves with urgency, and understands that in hard money lending, speed and trust are everything. You are not just setting appointments — you are opening the doors that our AEs walk through to close deals and fund loans.

This position reports to the Head of Sales and offers a clear path to an Account Executive closing role for top performers. This is a Hybrid role based in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • Execute high-volume outbound prospecting via phone, email, and social channels to identify and engage real estate investors, brokers, and referral partners

  • Qualify inbound and outbound leads against our lending criteria — understanding deal basics like ARV, LTV, property type, and borrower exit strategy

  • Hand off warm, well-qualified opportunities to Account Executives with clear deal context and urgency

  • Build and manage your pipeline with discipline — tracking all activity, follow-ups, and conversations in the CRM daily

  • Develop and nurture relationships with referral partners, wholesalers, and repeat investors over time

  • Stay current on our loan products, market conditions, and competitive landscape so you can have real conversations — not scripted ones

  • Hit and exceed monthly activity and qualified handoff targets

  • Collaborate with the AE team and leadership to continuously sharpen messaging, objection handling, and outreach strategy

Requirements

~1 min read
  • Highly comfortable navigating, provisioning, and auditing modern SaaS platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, HubSpot, Notion) without relying on external IT support for basic tasks.

  • Confident, clear communicator — on the phone, in writing, and in person

  • Strong qualifying instincts — you know the difference between a live lead and a time waster

  • Highly organized with the discipline to manage a full pipeline without dropping the ball

  • Resilient — rejection doesn't shake you, it sharpens you

  • Competitive by nature but a team player at heart

  • Based in Austin, TX (In-Office/Hybrid; West Austin).

  • Raise the Bar: We pursue operational excellence with focus, follow-through, and a persistent drive to get 1% better every day. We use technology to design best-in-class processes and systems. We invest our time wisely and take pride in our work. Great work compounds.

  • Act Like an Owner: We are proactive and act in the long-term interest of the company. When we see something that can be improved, we take initiative. We are accountable - we follow through on commitments, own outcomes, and take responsibility for both the work and the result.

  • Relationship Driven: We show up for our teammates and partners with respect, clarity, and candor. We build deep, mutually-beneficial relationships through thoughtful communication, elevated experiences, consistent reliability, and alignment of interests.

  • Stay Curious: We ask questions, seek context, and challenge assumptions in search of a better way. We value learning over knowing and progress over perfection. Curiosity drives how we test new ideas, learn from mistakes, and continuously improve as individuals and as a company.

Compensation for this role includes a base salary of $48,000 - $60,000 and an overall OTE of $60,000 - $90,000 (based on experience and qualifications). In addition to a competitive market salary, Backflip employees receive equity stock options, paid health care, and a 401K + company match, among other industry-leading benefits.

Backflip is an equal opportunity employer. We know that building a world-class organization is not possible without an intentional focus on recruiting, empowering, promoting and rewarding the best and brightest people of all backgrounds. Backflip focuses on hiring individuals that align with its Core Values (listed above), and consistently display a high ethical standard, both personally and professionally.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
