As a Strategic Account Manager, you'll own the long-term commercial success of a portfolio of strategic B2B clients. Your focus is on growing and retaining existing partnerships by staying close to the clients, understanding their business, anticipating their future needs, and helping them solve meaningful challenges.
Success in this role isn't measured simply by renewals or revenue. It's measured by the strength of your relationships, your understanding of the client's business, your ability to identify opportunities early, and your ownership of the account's long term success.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Own the commercial success of a portfolio of strategic B2B clients across multiple regions, ranging from growth-stage companies to enterprise and institutional organizations.
- →Develop a deep understanding of each client's business, strategic priorities, organizational structure, and long-term objectives.
- →Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders, from day-to-day contacts to executive sponsors, budget owners, and decision-makers.
- →Drive account growth by identifying expansion opportunities, developing strategic account plans, and leading commercial discussions.
- →Own commercial activities across your portfolio, including renewals, pricing, contract negotiations, expansion opportunities, and revenue growth.
- →Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of growth opportunities while ensuring accurate revenue forecasting.
- →Monitor account health, identify commercial and relationship risks early, and proactively strengthen long term partnerships.
- →Maintain a strong understanding of the client's roadmap, strategic initiatives, organizational changes, and industry trends to anticipate future opportunities.
- →Regularly visit client offices and maintain a strong onsite presence where appropriate.
- →Represent CodeLink during executive meetings, onsite visits, conferences, and client events, continuously expanding our presence and influence within client organizations.
- →Partner closely with Delivery, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Leadership to align on client priorities, shape solutions, and execute growth initiatives.
- →Drive important commercial topics through to resolution, ensuring ownership of contracts, pricing, renewals, and strategic account issues.
- →Maintain accurate account plans, opportunity tracking, forecasting, and CRM records to support effective portfolio management.
Requirements
~2 min read- 5+ years of experience in Account Management, Client Success, Business Development, Consulting, or a similar client-facing role, ideally within software development, technology consulting, or IT services.
- Excellent written and spoken English, strong communication & presentation skills.
- Proven track record of growing strategic B2B accounts through client retention, renewals, expansions, and long-term partnerships.
- Experience owning renewals, commercial negotiations, contract discussions, pricing, account forecasting, and expansion opportunities.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate client priorities into commercially viable consulting or technology solutions.
- Experience managing account portfolios, including revenue forecasting, opportunity pipeline management, and overall commercial performance.
- Demonstrated ability to own strategic accounts in complex stakeholder environments.
- Experience building relationships with executive sponsors, budget owners, and business decision-makers beyond day-to-day delivery contacts.
- Strong business curiosity with a habit of researching clients, industries, competitors, and stakeholder backgrounds.
- Comfortable representing the company at executive meetings, onsite visits, and industry events.
- Good understanding of software development delivery and how engineering teams create value for clients.
- Strong relationship building, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Strong CRM discipline with the ability to maintain accurate opportunity tracking and commercial forecasts.
- Ability to travel onsite regularly to meet clients.
