Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Resources (AVP), with additional lead work direction from the Associate Vice President and Dean of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies, the Academic Affairs Administrative Specialist (Specialist) performs varied administrative, technical, and analytical duties and provides day-to-day administration to the Academic Affairs division. Work involves participating in the development, alteration, implementation, and evaluation of administrative policies and procedures, while independently planning and conducting research, compiling data, and preparing and presenting reports with reliable conclusions and actionable recommendations. The Specialist contributes to the completion of broad and more complex organizational and projects and goals, often providing project leadership or representing the division on key projects and events within and outside the organization. Contacts involve interaction with all levels inside and outside the university, and may include dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

This position requires a bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs, plus two years of related experience. Experience in higher education administration, institutional effectiveness, or academic program support and familiarity with event planning, outreach, and assessment in a university or nonprofit setting is highly preferred. Knowledge of CSU and university policies, procedures, and compliance requirements preferred. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google Suite is required. Knowledge of experience with databases, PeopleSoft, or CRM systems is preferred.

What We Offer

This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period. The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $5,274 - $7,684 per month (step 1 - step 20). Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience. Step placement upon appointment is not expected to exceed Step 1 ($5,274).

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
