The Senior Director of Sales Operations is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence and commercial performance across Dermalogica's sales organization. Reporting to the Head of Sales, this leader oversees a high-performing team, manages cross-functional partnerships, and ensures the processes, tools, and programs that power the sales organization run with precision.

The primary function of the Senior Director of Sales Operations is to lead the strategic direction and execution of sales operations, ensuring the sales strategy is aligned with its business objectives and growth targets. The role involves overseeing the sales organization’s technology stack, data integrity and analytics capabilities

Responsibilities

The Senior Director of Sales Operations will have the following key areas of responsibility:

Partner with the Head of Sales on sales strategy, planning and execution

  • →Offer data-driven insights that support the Head of Sales’ assessment and decision-making process.
  • →Collaborate with key commercial partners to ensure decisions and execution are aligned.
  • →Facilitate a cross-functional council to ensure go-to-market design, customer engagement, sales playbooks and operational processes are well-aligned.
  • →Oversee sales compensation plans and collaborate with leadership to design competitive incentive programs.
  • Design scalable, readily adapted processes across sales teams while maintaining consistency and effectiveness.
  • Provide accurate, timely and actionable insights for understanding sales performance, optimizing pipeline management and informing strategic sales deployments.
  • Sponsor initiatives to streamline operations, optimize forecasting and reduce manual work.
  • Manage sales support functions such as customer service, order management and issue handling.
  • Manage the selection, implementation and maintenance of the revenue tech stack.
  • Ensure data governance practices are in place to effectively manage sales intelligence, CRM systems and other critical sales tools.
  • Monitor the adoption and effectiveness of sales technology to ensure the organization is extracting value from it.
  • Ensure all technology and process changes are aligned with the organization's broader goals
  • Lead business transformation initiatives with minimal disruption to the overall operational flow.
  • Ensure organizational change readiness by reassessing process efficiency, investing in new technologies or redefining roles and responsibilities within the team.
  • Manage and grow a team of sales operations professionals.
  • Collect regular feedback from cross-functional teams and executive leadership on the effectiveness of sales operations initiatives.
  • Develop leaders within the sales operations function who can manage both current operations and emerging challenges related to talent transformation and market shifts
  • Effectively communicate critical updates and brand initiatives from all channels to the field team, ensuring consistent understanding of objectives.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Customer Service to align operational strategies and maintain consistent, customer-focused brand messaging.
  • Develop and submit the annual Sales Operations budget in partnership with Finance, ensuring cost-efficiency and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Manage spending within agreed variance (+/- 5%) of approved budget.
  • Produce investment business cases with clear ROI rationale.
  • Strategize, plan, and execute the logistics of sales events in close collaboration with the head of professional sales, head of retail sales and the marketing team..
  • Achieve post-event feedback scores at or above agreed benchmarks.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of operations professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and accountability.
  • Ensure all direct reports have active development plans, reviewed at least twice per year.
  • Maintain team engagement with attrition within acceptable range.
  • Identify and actively develop at least one direct report as a future leader or successor.
  • Generate consistent positive feedback from Sales, Finance, IT, and Marketing on the team's effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in sales operations or operations management.
  • Proven track record leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong command of budget management, forecasting, and CRM platforms.
  • Demonstrated success managing diverse sales channels and optimizing operational efficiencies.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and adapt to evolving business needs.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the professional skincare, beauty, or consumer goods industry.
  • Experience with Pepperi or similar field sales CRM platforms.
  • Business acumen: Knowledge of sales methodologies, pipeline management, deal structuring and compensation strategies.
  • Project management: Ability to plan, execute and manage projects across multiple teams with efficiency.
  • Technological aptitude: Strong understanding of current CRM/sales technologies and the ability to foresee and integrate emerging technology trends, including AI, into the sales operations framework.
  • Analytical expertise: Ability to harness data and derive actionable insights with advanced analytics, data visualization and forecasting techniques.
  • Effective communication: Ability to communicate complex data insights and strategic initiatives in clear and actionable ways for various stakeholders across the organization.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Ability to influence with or without formal authority and to bridge the gap between sales, marketing, finance, IT and other departments to drive unified commercial strategies.
  • Process mapping and continuous improvement: Ability to map out complex processes and facilitate workshops to diagnose issues and plan improvements. Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or a similar framework is a plus.
  • Adaptive problem solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve problems, and the foresight to sense and adapt to emerging trends in customer behaviors, sales tactics and technology.

This position will be based out of the Dermalogica corporate headquarters in Carson, CA with applicable hybrid in-office work guidelines.

The expected annual base salary range for this position is $130K to $160K. The exact base salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, and budget. This role is eligible for participation in our company bonus plan, rewarding personal performance and company results.
