Responsibilities

  • →

    Has responsibility for moderately complex to complex risk selection / rejection, pricing, retention, growth and profitability (within scope of authority and per divisional objectives).

    Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers to attract and retain profitable business.

  • →

    Implements and executes territory marketing/business development plan to drive new opportunities for profitable growth.

  • →

    Visits producers and Insureds in order to build and maintain business relationships, retain existing accounts,  and develop new opportunities in support of divisional objectives.

  • →

    Interprets, explains and markets products and services to drive profitable new business growth.

  • →

    Receives and analyzes submissions and determines terms to offer (policy limits, deductibles, coverage options and conditions, etc.). 

  • →

    Prices business in accordance with company guidelines. 

  • →

    Assesses risk quality and compliance within company guidelines.

  • →

    Analyzes business reports needed in the rating and underwriting processes, including applications, financial statements and underwriting surveys.

  • →

    Makes recommendations on risks.

  • →

    Enters, maintains and monitors accounts using underwriting, analysis and desktop systems.

  • →

    Uses independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.

  • →

    Maintains a high level of customer service.

  • →

    Prepares effective internal and external communications on underwriting and business development issues.

  • →

    Administers and applies underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules and insurance laws and regulations.

  • →

    Works collaboratively with underwriting/claims colleagues and Divisional leadership.

  • →

    Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Finance, Insurance, Economics, Communications or other Business related fields.

  • Generally, 5-10+ years of underwriting and/or insurance brokerage and/or insurance business development experience, with fidelity/crime and/or management liability underwriting/business development experience strongly preferred.

  • Proven track record of producing and managing a profitable book of underwriting business.

  • Proven success in developing and maintaining a broad network of agency/brokerage relationships.

  • Strong negotiation skills, verbal and written communication skills in order to leverage excellent customer relationships, and to drive opportunities for marketing products and services.

  • High level of organizational skills, ability to establish priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Must be open to day and overnight travel up to 30% of the time, to visit producers and Insureds.

$90,000.00 -$130,000.00
