About the Role
~2 min readWe are looking for an established and experienced China Business Development Specialist with deep knowledge of the China market. Working from our Hong Kong office, you will serve as a valued liaison to our external partners and play an important role in helping our team manage our bank and broker relationships, look after our wallet, and support the firm on longer-term strategic initiatives to ensure the stability of our clearing and trading relationships.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the firm to expand our relationships with onshore counterparties, including exchanges, brokers/market intermediaries and other service providers. This is a people-focused role that relies heavily on building and maintaining relationships. You’ll be expected to travel and join meetings and represent the firm externally to various partners.
Additional responsibilities of this role will include:
- Optimising our financing and execution wallets, particularly in China
- Working with our Legal, Risk, Compliance and Financing teams to ensure we have solid agreements with the necessary protections and a good understanding of market nuances
- Building relationships onshore to ensure we are quick to react to market and regulatory changes
We work in a highly collaborative environment, and this role is a chance to sit within our Business Development team at the intersection of several groups (including Bank and Broker Management, Trading, Strategy and Product, Technology), providing key feedback and sharing insights that will help us shape and refine our strategy for the region.
- Have 10+ years of experience with a broker or local securities firm, ideally in a prime, execution, financing or treasury-focused role
- Have a solid understanding of the complexities of the China market
- Organised with strong project management skills; detail-oriented and able to handle competing priorities
- Enjoy working with people, and can communicate effectively with various audiences
- Proactive; can think strategically and turn ideas into action
- Professional, reliable and courteous
- Willing to travel regularly to meet with counterparties onshore
- Strong verbal and written communicator
- Fluent in Mandarin and English
