At Leading Educators (LE), we know that excellent teaching is the most important driver of student success. The moment a student steps foot in the classroom, their opportunity to learn depends on how prepared their teacher is to translate complex content knowledge, standards, and their knowledge of that student into lessons that help them learn deeply and apply their thinking to the real world.

That’s a big lift, and it often happens alone. As a national nonprofit, we partner with school systems to overcome persistent instructional challenges, foster intentional collaboration and adult learning by design, and ignite new possibilities through systemic solutions at the intersection of teaching, talent, and technology.

We work shoulder-to-shoulder with educators at every level of the education system to strengthen their instructional and leadership practices, bring a vision for excellent instruction to life with consistency, and ensure every student reaches their full potential.

Through direct support, strategic advising, innovation pilots, and best-in-class research, we help educators work toward a future where every student is ready to thrive. Learn more about our work at leadingeducators.org.

Imagine being the catalyst for transformative instructional change across Philadelphia schools. As a Design and Coaching Specialist at Leading Educators, you'll work at the intersection of expert coaching and strategic professional learning design—two powerful forces that directly shape teacher practice and, ultimately, student success. This role is built on a compelling premise: excellent teaching is the most important driver of student achievement, and teachers don't have to figure it out alone.

In this position, you'll partner with school leaders, teachers, and instructional teams to implement Illustrative Mathematics with precision and impact. You'll blend deep content expertise with sophisticated coaching skills, moving fluidly between observing classrooms, analyzing student work, facilitating powerful professional learning experiences, and designing resources tailored to each school's unique context. Your work will be visible—you'll see shifts in instructional practice, watch teachers grow in confidence and capability, and witness the ripple effects in student learning.

This is not a behind-the-desk role. You'll spend significant time in schools, building trusting relationships, asking powerful questions, and co-designing solutions with the educators you support. You'll use data—classroom observations, student work, feedback, and assessment metrics—to inform every decision you make. And you'll do it all while continuously learning, adapting, and modeling what it means to be a committed professional learner yourself.

  • Making mathematics come alive for students and teachers alike? You possess deep Grade 6–Secondary math expertise grounded in Illustrative Mathematics, and you know how to unlock the "why" behind the content so teachers can inspire genuine mathematical thinking in their classrooms.
  • Coaching conversations that spark real change? You've mastered the art of observation, feedback, and reflection—the kind that shifts how teachers see their practice and empowers them to make bold instructional moves with confidence and precision.
  • Designing professional learning that educators actually want to attend? You create PLCs, learning labs, and leadership experiences that feel fresh, relevant, and directly connected to what's happening in real classrooms. Your designs spark conversation, challenge thinking, and drive measurable improvement.
  • Harnessing AI to amplify your impact? You're fluent in using artificial intelligence strategically—integrating it into your workflows to elevate planning, sharpen analysis, strengthen communication, and deliver results with greater precision and speed.
  • Building genuine, trust-based relationships with educators and school leaders, and taking pride in consistent follow-through and reliability?
  • Synthesizing complex data from multiple sources—observations, student work, surveys, artifacts—to surface patterns and translate them into actionable insights?
  • Designing and adapting resources, tools, and learning experiences that feel responsive to a school's specific context and needs?
  • Growing continuously through feedback, reflection, and new learning about coaching practice, adult facilitation, and curriculum implementation?
