SalesSales Engineer

Meshmerize develops wireless mesh networking software for moving machines, including autonomous robots, drones and mining vehicles. Our technology enables communication where devices move, radio conditions change and direct connections to fixed infrastructure are not always available.

We integrate our software into networking devices such as OpenWRT-based wifi routers. Our customers use these devices with our software to set up resilient and highly dynamic wireless mesh networks. We are an international team with an international customer base in countries across the globe such as Australia, Brazil, Canada and South Africa.

We are looking for an experienced networking professional to help customers evaluate, deploy and operate our technology. The work combines practical Linux networking, customer collaboration and troubleshooting in environments where standard deployment approaches do not always apply.

As Senior Customer Solutions Engineer, you will work with the technical staff of our customers to integrate our products into their system. This includes consulting on network architecture, hardware selection and RF planning, but also device configuration, traffic optimization and network troubleshooting. You will support our customers and partners in completing initial trials and setting up their first installations.

This position is for a senior, hands-on networking export who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and takes responsibility for the results. You will work mostly remotely with the customers, with occasional international travel to be on-site for crucial customer trials and initial deployments.

You will build expertise in Meshmerize’s technology through close collaboration with our product and development team. You will be supported by the development team in resolving technical issues and the sales team for commercial negotiations.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • →

Technical qualification: Understand the customer’s application, network architecture and operational requirements. Assess technical fit and identify constraints before deployment.

  • →

Customer trials: Define measurable acceptance criteria, prepare devices and configurations, and conduct remote and onsite evaluations.

  • →

Deployment and troubleshooting: Configure Linux-based networking devices and investigate packet loss, latency, intermittent connectivity and throughput problems across wired and wireless links.

  • →

Investigation ownership: Gather logs, packet captures and interface statistics; develop and test hypotheses; coordinate changes around customer operations; and verify results.

  • →

Development collaboration: Escalate deeper issues with reproducible findings and a clear account of the tests already performed, while retaining ownership of the customer case.

  • →

Documentation and product improvement: Record configurations and solutions, develop repeatable troubleshooting procedures, and bring recurring field issues into product discussions.

  • Substantial practical experience troubleshooting customer networks or deployed infrastructure, with personal responsibility for investigations through resolution.

  • Experience working directly with customers and explaining technical findings, proposed tests and unresolved questions.

  • Experience beyond office IT administration, for example in field deployments, infrastructure networking, technical support or commissioning.

This role requires established professional experience. Academic coursework, certifications or lab experience alone are not sufficient.

  • Strong Linux command-line skills and hands-on experience configuring networking devices.

  • A solid understanding of Ethernet, IP networking, bridging, routing, VLANs and Wi-Fi.

  • Practical experience with packet-analysis and network-testing tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump and iperf.

  • The ability to investigate an unfamiliar device over SSH, inspect interfaces and forwarding behaviour, interpret traffic captures and make controlled configuration changes.

  • A systematic approach to distinguishing radio, network configuration, device and application-level problems.

  • Strong spoken and written English.

  • The ability to lead an investigation independently, involve colleagues when needed and keep customers informed.

  • Curiosity about how systems work and resourcefulness when documentation or familiar procedures do not provide the answer.

  • Willingness to work at customer sites and travel internationally.

Relevant professional experience matters more than a particular degree.

  • OpenWrt, including UCI configuration and device diagnostics.

  • Industrial networking or networks supporting mobile machines.

  • Wireless mesh networking and RF troubleshooting.

  • Customer trials or technical pre-sales.

  • German language skills.

Previous experience with Meshmerize software is not expected. Experience with drones, robots or mining equipment is useful, but not required.

The role is based in Berlin, Munich or Dresden. Partial home working is possible.

Travel is typically a few days per month, with international customer visits about once every two months. While most trips are planned in advance, occasional short-notice travel may arise, subject to destination-specific visa and entry requirements.

Site work may involve industrial facilities, mines or outdoor test environments.
