The Sales Engineer serves as a technical resource within the Sales Department, supporting the sales team and customers by providing engineering expertise during the quoting, specification, and project development phases. This role bridges the gap between sales, engineering, and manufacturing by ensuring that customer requirements are accurately translated into technically sound and competitive solutions.
Responsibilities

- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the company's sales process, quoting systems, and proposal development procedures.
- Assist the sales team in preparing accurate project quotations, including scope evaluation, pricing, and technical configuration.
- Perform detailed project take-offs and assist in developing project budgets and equipment selections.
- Conduct CD&E's on opportunities brought by the sales team.
- May be responsible for generating quotes from time to time.
- Support on Moonshot Energy projects related to modular data center AI builds.
- Provide technical support to the sales team throughout the pre-sale and proposal process.
- Assist with product configuration, system design considerations, and equipment selection to ensure solutions meet customer requirements and applicable standards.
- Utilize manufacturer resources, configurators, and technical documentation from suppliers such as Siemens, ABB, and Schneider Electric to develop accurate solutions.
- Work closely with the engineering team to expand product knowledge and maintain alignment between proposed solutions and manufacturing capabilities.
- Support internal engineering efforts by assisting with technical reviews, documentation, and project clarification during the sales cycle.
- Work with Moonshot's R&D team to help quote and design new products / product lines.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's product offerings and electrical distribution equipment.
- Gain working knowledge of UL891 standards and compliance requirements applicable to switchboards and related equipment.
- Continuously build expertise in supplier product lines, configurations, and technical specifications.
Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- 3-5 years of engineering experience; prior sales experience is a plus but not required
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn and explain complex products to diverse audiences
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering thorough and accurate proposals and documentation
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to grow in a high-performance sales environment
